Ellenwood Survival Story

Yes, we went to Ellenwood, and brought the dog. Actually she was very good. Better than when she's at home. She swam for the first time lot and chased the stick. She dug a lot of holes, was tied and never complained. She met many dog friends, they sniffed each others rears, and kept going.

She was wagged out, and sleeping on the couch so we went for a quick stroll without her.... and when we got into bed, loverboy's side was wet. She had peed on our bed! At midnight we had to change the sheets, and blankets, and bedspread, and flip the mattress . Son #2 had 4 or 5 girls with him at all times. He put pyjamas on early Friday night, and we brought him home today in the same clothes. He never changed, except to swim. We ate way too much, I bought myself a bike, and my rear end is sore when I sit. Some sort of religious group was tenting close by and they sang beautifully late last night. We went to check if it was recorded music or not. Very impressive indeed.

Another good reason to drink

Need another good reason to drink? ~~A drink of alcohol a day may slow dementia by 85 per cent, a study says. The Italian Longitudinal Study on Aging found people with mild cognitive impairment who had up to one drink of alcohol a day, mostly wine, developed dementia at an 85 percent slower rate than people with mild cognitive impairment who never drank. Mildcognitive impairment is a stage between normal aging and dementia, where sufferers experience minor memory or cognitive problems with no significant disability. ~~

Ants in your pants

Ants in the house. They are moving in bag and baggage.

About 30 found in son#2's room this afternoon, 10 hanging out alone, and a close-knit party of about 20, broke up with a squirt of raid. I would have flattened them with a heavy book, had I known they were just going to scurry under the radiator and out of sight completely.

Two are dying in a ziplock, evidence for the Orkin man I plan to call tomorrow. These guys are big, with wings. I am afraid they may be carpenter ants.

Needless to say, Loverboy is gone, and I have a new bed partner. No way is he sleeping in that room.... and I hardly blame him.

Soaked up the sun at sand hills this late afternoon. It was really nice, and warm, and windy. The dog was on her best behavior, and dug up a variety of things, including a candy cane. Santa must have been around.

Great new cell phone charger

There will soon be a new cell phone charger available. It's gonna be great, when we are running out of battery, and are half way to Montreal on a train, or something.

GotWind, a firm specializing in renewable energy, is producing a portable kinetic energy charger. Kinda like the flashlights you recharge by shaking, you attach this to the user's arm, and it employs a system of weights and magnets which provide an electric current to top up the charge .

Pretty cool eh, ... break out into a dance, and charge your battery.

~~Starting Wednesday, June 25, traffic on sections of Route 335 near West Pubnico, from the intersection of Green Grove Road east for 6.3 kilometres, will be reduced to one lane until Friday, July 25 for repaving.Traffic delays are expected and the rough surface during construction will require extra caution by cyclists. Drivers should use extra care in construction zones. ~~

Wow, one lane for an entire month?

Class reunion

30 year reunion?..... hmmmm . That sounds like such a long time ago. Had a nice reunion with classmates on Saturday at Mrs. J's. Reindeer was there, my lab partner, nouille, skin-man, and many, many more. We all looked the same (ha, ha) and amazingly remembered many things from the past. We even had the opportunity to look over some old get well cards we had sent a classmate when we were in grade 5. We raised our glass in honor of Billy, who left us tragically 17 years ago. A nice campfire burned, lots of catching up was done, much wine and spirits were drank, and there was some shrimp cooking. There was even a cake "class of 77-78".

Such a good time, makes you wonder, why do we wait so long to get together. There is a real feeling of comfort, being with those who you grew up with, and got in trouble with.

Cheers to the sweathogs!

Fake Foot

Yes, an update to the 6th severed foot found in BC... it was a hoax.

Shame on you.

Mal a la patte

Lady Di.... the queen of summertime, the dancing queen, and a swimmer extraordinaire.

Broke her foot today, just hours before summer begins.

I called to cheer her up, but all I could think to say was....

" At least I know you won't be bugging me to go on a walk for while".

Cheers Quotes

From my favorite bar.... I love those conversations when Norm walks in and takes his seat at the bar.

Woody: Hey Mr. Peterson, there's a cold one waiting for you.
Norm: I know. If she calls, I'm not here.

Woody: Would you like a beer, Mr. Peterson?
Norm: No, I'd like a dead cat in a glass.

Norm: I want something light and cold.
Carla: Sorry, it's Diane's day off.

Norm: It's a dog eat dog world, and I'm wearing Milkbone underwear.

Woody: What's shakin', Mr. Peterson?
Norm: All four cheeks and a couple of chins.

Another Jay Leno quote

"According to New York publishers, Bill Clinton will get more money for his book than Hillary Clinton got for hers.
Well, duh. At least his book has some sex in it."

Sex and the City, that is.
Saw the movie tonight, and it's a very good chick flick.

Lot of life lessons about relationships of all kinds.

Lesson #1 ... remember who you are, and what matters to you. We often get caught up in work, and being a wife and mom. Seek happiness.

Lesson # 2.... learn the art of forgiving

Lesson #3 .... laugh often

Lesson #4 .... all relationships need to be nutured

Lesson #5 ... have good sex often

Adidas size 10 ... this time

Found: a size 10 adidas running shoe, complete with severed foot, on the shores of British Columbia.

It' s the 6th foot found, wearing a running shoe. A right foot this time. Foot #5 was a left foot.

After they found the fourth right foot, the police made a statement that none of the feet were from the same person.

Well, duh?

Since police said that the feet are not supposed to have met with foul play, BC tourism will likely not be affected this summer. Maybe the feet are from boating accident victims, the kind that go boating with running shoes, not rubber boots or deck shoes. maybe a local mortician has a foot fetish, and a closet full of sneakers.

Myself, I'd like to see a sandal next.
Poor, lost soles.

Breaking news from Rome ... Amen to that

In Rome ~~an Italian couple who were caught having sex in a church confessional box while morning Mass was being said have repented and made peace with the local bishop.
The couple, in their early 30s, were detained by police earlier this month after they had made love in the confessional box in the cathedral in northern Cesena. They were cautioned for obscene acts in public and disturbing a religious function.
Their lawyer said they had been drinking all night and realized they had gone too far.
The lawyer told the area's local newspaper on Wednesday the couple met with the local bishop on Tuesday night, asked for his forgiveness and that he had given it.
Last week the bishop celebrated a "Mass of reparation" in the cathedral where the confessional box incident took place to make up for the sacrilege.~~

good advice

As you may know, I recently went to a seminar on meaningful conversation. No advice was as good as the following, which I came across today.

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

June blog Smog

Loverboy was home for a week, and at last, he has left , and I can finish my mouldings and wainscoting in the bathroom. I have even attempted my first door jam. Never swore once, but I haven't finished yet either.

Didn't go the ladies fun night due to a lack of babysitters... they are all studying for exams I guess. I played in the Argyle " Blue" links on Friday, and had a nice time . Met Judy Stretch, minister of Community Services. Had a good mind to ask what she was driving, since her son totalled the SUV we paid for. Ha Ha. And our good old MLA, promised me a call on Monday as I left the club house. Today is Monday, isn't it?

Father's Day was yesterday. My thoughts were with a Mr. Paul Boudreau, father of Karissa. He fathered a child with a woman, who 12 years later, single-handedly plotted and killed their child. She has been arrested. As a mother, who would throw myself infront of a freight train, and fight off a grizzly, for the lives of my kids, ... it's hard to imagine such a act. I'm speechless.

The 45 lb puppy is keeping us busy. We should have named her "Digger", according to the holes appearing here and there. The kids discovered a lump under her arm pit. They said it was about the size of a raisin. Oh...I know... I bet it's a tick. So I checked it out, and it would have been too easy for us if it had been a tick. It looks like some kind of cyst. Good grief. Another trip to the vet I suppose. She is on the naughty list with all of us, since she chewed the charger for my laptop, into three pieces. My sis asked if the laptop was plugged in at the time. My response: "unfortunately not". Now we are back to one computer, and have to take a number.

Kentucky Fried Chicken anyone???

I went to KFC for chicken last Saturday. We were camping and entertaining, so I decided to run into town to get 30 pieces chicken. The place was empty except for two seniors who were eating.

...I'll have 30 pieces of chicken, original recipe please.

...Anything else?

...No, just chicken for today.

.... Can I interested you in a hot apple turnover?

... No thanks.

.... Will that be for eat-in or take out?

.... ?????????

Digby Pines

Spent a bit of time in Digby, at a conference on conversation.

Nice there, cottage was better than I remembered.

Brought Mom and a golfer friend to spend some time. Enjoyed a beer at the Nakile cottage before bringing them to the 19th hole at Digby Pines. Supper was a beautiful 5 course meal.

The Weed Hound

New, as advertised on TV, ( so they claim) ,weed puller thingy. Bought one and it really works on plantain and dandeloins. Kinda fun to use.

It has a "limited lifetime Warranty". ???

Now, that's kinda vague. What's the "limited" referring to... your lifespan, or the weed hound. Maybe Lifetime warranty, if you are over 80?

All Summer Long

It's my new favorite song... by Kid Rock.

Nice, little, easy to use, Video link of it at
