Dec 31 & Walmart gift card

Get your $20 giftcard by mail if you spent, ( and kept the receipts) at least $50 on products such as Tampax, Always, Pantene, Covergirl, Ivory, Gilette, Oil of Olay , etc... Items must have been bought Nov 1 to Dec 31. Must send for your card before Jan 31/09. If your hubby shaves, spending $50 on blades for his Gilette is an easy way to get a deal. They cost a fortune. And of course, some households have 3 or 4 menstrating women, and that itself can be an expense, I am sure.

Post boxing Day Post

There ! Got all my groceries and errands done, just in time for the freezing rain. Had a good christmas. The boys were excited and they are always so much fun and loving. The power kept testing my patience, and mom wondered if we would end up having cold turkey sandwiches for supper. I told her it was fine with me, as long as the rest could be there too. All that is necessary is family and friends.Turns out, power was restored and a lovely hot meal was had. The youngest had a marshmallow shooter gun, from us, and he shot us all night. Lots of fun. The littlest was at my inlaws, and she was a warm welcome to the holiday gathering. Nothing like an innocent helpless baby to experience love.

I never cried over my late brother this year, although I did think of him plenty, and smile at some things he used to say and do. I can still hear him smiling & whispering " Man, ca gout point bon" after being the first one to taste mom's beautiful, but gross egg nog cheesecake made with some kinda foreign rum. I miss his laughter at funny stupid things, and his greeting/kiss and hug. I wish I could see him again.

Merry Christmas to all !

After too many bouts of darkness it appears to be Christmas Eve, ready or not.

Christmas Day gives rain and wind. Well, we haven't seen any wind in quite a while. We are still driving under some kind of wires hanging to get out of our driveway, as the pole is broken at the base. Looks a bit unfit but a neighbour put up a wooden brace, to keep it from swinging around too much. I just step on it when I go under.

And we won't be watching any Bugs Bunny reruns of The three little pigs for awhile... too many flashbacks ... That big bad wolf saying " I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll bbblooooowwwww your house down !".

Loverboy and I have been huddled up everynight, mostly for warmth. CJLS entertaining us, or trying to. Loverboy said, it's no wonder they had large families before. Early in bed every night, & huddled to keep warm. We have our quota of offsprings, but we do hope a new life could get started in a warm place elsewhere. Another niece or nephew would always be nice.

Stay safe this holiday season, and may all your days be merry and "bright", with NSP's help.

Brain freeze

The PMS and PHS (pre-holiday syndrome) have gotten a hold of my brain, and I no longer feel creative to blog.

I decided to the day off , and at 7 am son #2 awoke with a sticky eye and a bad cough. So he hung out with me today. So much for that to do list. But I did enjoy the day.

I have run out of patience with the woof-woof. She opened a gift,(socks) and chewed on an unopened card. I strategically placed a couple bells on the bottom branches, and she kept returning after the socks, jingle bells alerting me. The CCM 3-pack of socks now sits atop the piano. Nice and festive looking.

Rock a bye baby

Does anything feel better than rocking a sleeping baby ? Nothing that I think of.
I rocked the Littlest for an hour and a half while she slept on me, her cute little face turned towards me, all warm and cozy. I like babies that size, when their diapered bum fits in your hand.

Rock a bye baby on the tree top,

When the wind blows the cradle will rock,

When the bough breaks the cradle will fall,

And down will come baby, cradle and all.

Recession ? are you sure ?

Take a walk through Walmart, and do a bit of shopping. Looking at the carts and shopping habits, I never saw any signs of a recession. People had cart loads, walking around. But they all seemed so stressed. Some were arguing on cells phones about what to get cousin Cody for Christmas. One was calling her mother names, that if I called my mom that, she'd pound me through the cracks in the patio ( quote from her... he he) Christmas is supposed to be a joyful time, a time to reflect and be with family. Give to those you want to give to... and stop drawing names and being pressured to give because you have to. Most of us have far too much anyway. Want to spend a few bucks on a gift, do something outstanding for someone who's having a rough time, give to someone who has less, or give your time. Even saw shoppers today complaining about what to put in their pets stocking ..... good golly, save 5 bucks, and knit Fluffy a ball and tie a string to it.

Bah Humbug!

The power of Women

The cook sent me this....

"Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater.

If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby.

If you give her a house, she'll give you a home.

If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal.

If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart.

She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.

So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit

Do not call ... part 2

So now they claim that Cell Phone Numbers Go Public this month. Once again we can register to stop unwanted telemarketers. Here's the latest link to register your wireless phones before they start calling those numbers.YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

Bits and Bites

What would possess people to steal 30 wreaths ? What is this world coming to?

Some like housework. I hate to dust, but I do it when the kids start writing their name on the TV screens.

How much money does a dentist make... let's say... by the hour? $282.00 maybe? It's gotta be a big figure. Of course, he does have some overhead expenses.

To those of us who are truly bilingual, and grew up with a French and an English parent... do you think in English or french?

Why do deer change directions so fast? I missed 2, and he got 1. Pitiful.

Nothing awakens me more than getting off the lazy boy where I have dozed off, and going to bed. I then lay awake.

Salads are the best when not made by yourself.

When you are young, nothing feels better than a nap on the couch. When you are older, a nap on the couch practically kills you.

Pyjama pants.... they should have a rule. Banned from the grocery, and Tim Hortons. At least ban the flannel ones. If your house is on fire, and you must dress, and run to the grocery store to call 911, well, in that case flannel pj pants would be OK.

Why do Tic Tac Mints smell a lot better than they taste? They smell wonderfully.

Bye Bye

Too good to be true but

~~after a barrage of personal, negative Conservative advertising, an historically humiliating election loss, a humbling resignation, continuing caretaker status and finally an unprecedented coalition resurrection that could have made him Canada’s 23rd prime minister before Christmas — Dion finally gave up. ~~

It's the new me

I got a new voice with this sore throat. Nice and deep and even sexy when I am not coughing. Say goodbye to Tammy Wynette and Olivia Newton-John and say hello to Frank Sinatra. At the next karaoke, I'll be the one singing " Start spreading the news.... New York ! New York !"

Ho Ho Ho Humdrum

Well, I have had it with light bulbs. How is one to maintain any Christmas spirit, while frigging with mini lites ? Why does every thing need to be lit? The very top part of the prelit tree doesn't light. The 50 minilites I added to it are blinking. The "forest" looking snow covered prelit tree has 2 sections that don't work. The LED lights I added to it are blue, and an eye sore. Wear your shades if you come over. The mantle bubble lights would not cooperate, and 5 of the 10 are blown. At $ 7.99 for 2, they might stay blown. And as for the illuminated string of Santa and his reindeer, it appears Vixen must have flew away.

I am a reindeer short of a sleigh ride.

The eldest told me today that he was glad I had married Loverboy. The explanation followed: "You see mom, I have the two best grandfathers in the world. One is kinda famous, and the other is hilarious, he always has queer sayings and songs to make us laugh."

sore throat

Have a sore throat and am "literally" keeping quiet I guess. Ate hot wings for supper ( really hot, makes you sweat), thinking it would cure my bug, but I was wrong. Why is it that these sore throats are a morning and night thing?

Pap Test Etiquette

Ldot has quite the blog today. Wondering about pap test etiquette. I must say I did laugh at the thought of the legs opening, and closing, each time you anticipated the Dr was ready. You're looking for input, well I haven't got much. First of all, my pap tests are always done with me laying on my side, back to the dr, legs drawn up somewhat. I do chit chat a bit. I don't use a blanket. I do say thanks on my way out... and like you, I leave my socks on.
