Get out of jail free

Our Department of justice has got to be burnt out, or something. Just how many criminals can they mistakenly let out ? It's ridiculous. Imagine the inmate's excitement when he unexpectedly gets shown the door.

Obviously some employees should all go home, draw EI on our expense, and get a free take home gift on their way out the door. Oh, I am not talking a severance package for being let go due to recurring stupidity. I am talking the about giving them all a deluxe game of monopoly. There they can hand out get out of jail free cards with no repercussions.

For a limited time. Sobeys and Lawtons as of march 30th.
I am a Vim gal, the bathroom cleaner makes your tub look like new, and the yellow vim is great in many places. A little squirt, and the grim comes right off. I have used it on doors, floors, and windowcasings. In the camper, I use it with a toothbrush to clean any mold around the windows.
Like Martha Stewart would say, it's a beautiful thing.

July 8th, 2009

At five minutes and six seconds after 4:00 on the 8th of July this year, the time and date will be:

04:05:06 07/08/09

This will never happen again in our lifetimes.

Someone has lots of time on their hands. I hardly know the day's date most of the time. Don't call me to experience the moment.... I'll set my alarm.

Get well soon Redneck

Saw the redneck today, foot in a heavy cast. Seemed to be in good spirits, and I am wondering how many pain pills he's on. Played his guitar and sang some silly tune for me. Who even knew he could play? let alone sing?
Hope he heals well, and remains a redneck.

If this is an April Fool's joke, I will not be held responsible.

Intimate card game

Yes, had a small card game tonight. During break the hyper one showed us how to fox trot. Getting ready for the next dance. I danced with the hyper one, dad with the avon lady, and the hyper one with the newphie, although they didn't want to get too close. The hostess and the newphie danced , but they both lead, and bounce a bit. Need a little practise that's all.

I did better with the dancing than I did with the cards.

Loverboy still not home, their phone is broke down. When he gets home, we'll have to do a little dancing ourselves....

Mock Easter Armwrestling report

I lost to the cook. First time ever, and feel totally sick over it. I better pump iron. I have until Thanksgiving.

Big news is Nanny got her title back. She had been defeated by sis last year, but at 70, she's only getting better ! Way to go Nanny !
We had an early Easter dinner, & egg hunt for the kids. The eggs were well hidden. Those senior bunnies are pretty crafty! Nice to see Smartie pants and ms. smarties pants. Almost everyone behaved at the table with the candlelight this year. Nothing afire, wax sculpures, burnt spoons, or fingers. We are all getting more mature ... finally. Thanks for dinner Mom.

Home Depot

Now here's a contest I'd love to win. $5000 gift card to my favorite store... Home Depot.
Last time I was in, they had such beautiful outdoor furniture and decor. Everything to create a nice to place outside to hang out with friends and mosquitoes in the fog.

Dance night

Son # 2 is definitely getting older. He went to a dance tonight. Wore new pants he swore he would never wear. He spent time with his hair, working this glass hair product into his hair, and had water and a comb to flatten a couple curls daring to stick out. He borrowed a t-shirt and necklace from son #1. It was so cute. He danced with 8 different girls he told us, and won best dressed guy for his grade. " I was surprised" he said.... " I didn't fuss, and just looked like the usual."

Climaxx Blues band

Big popular hit when I was 17. Good last waltz.

I had to laugh. One man commented that, just like the song, in the 80's he met his wife, drank a lot, and had long hair. He's still with his wife, but now he has no hair, and she's the one who drinks on weekends!

Learn something new everyday

Today, while I watched a soccer game from my warm vehicle, I listened to a talk show. I learned some interesting home remedies. Here are a few:

Milk of magnesia ... More uses than you think.. no shit ! You can use it with a cotton ball, rub on armpits for deodorant. ( no mention of any white residue).... and on pimples at night, and they clear over night . In your hair for dandruff control.

Listerine and vinegar ( half and half) ... will treat finger and toenail fungus. Soak twice a day for a bit. Also Vicks Vapor rub, although you may smell a bit.

Drink sassafrass tea, and mosquitoes will leave you alone.

Leave spicy food alone and your rosacea may clear up.

Duct tape your plantar's wart. Leave on for a week. Remove and soak wart in warm water and file it down some. Repeat. Can take two months.
And for leg cramps ... drink 2 small cans of low sodium V8 everyday, one in the morning and one in the evening. So lady Di, tell your mom to lay off the Amarula and switch to V8.

Thanks Cinnamon Girl

Thanks for a lovely evening, with tea, soft music, candlelight, and easy conversation. We'll do it again someday soon.

I especially enjoyed seeing your family member showing off his dance routine for the upcoming talent show. He's too adorable.
Stay well, and keep off the front porch.

Scary Night

I had a frightening night's sleep last night. The silent one was not so silent and was snoring. It was a spooky ghost sound..... oooooohhh....oooooohhh.
I was dreaming all kinds of creepy stuff, while my subconscious mind was listening to the snoring. It was like a Steven King Novel, being played out in my head.

I gave him a nudge. Then a soft poke. Then I rubbed his face. " Hmm? What?"
"You're snoring."

So, he falls instantly to sleep, and so do I . I suddenly awaken to the Texas Chain Saw massacre.
I liked the Ghostly sound better.

I gave him a nudge. Then a soft poke. Then I rubbed his face. " Hmm? What?"
"You're snoring."

He falls asleep, and I lay awake. Yes, the ghostly sounds are back. thankfully. And in the distance I hear rumbling, and a really loud thunder rolls overhead.

Now, I'm really feeling half spooked. I hold his hand for comfort, and he continues snoring.

With a knick-knack, paddy whack...

... Give a dog a bone.

Newest recipe for dog treats

3/4 cup hot water
1/3 cup margarine ( but I used some butter, and mostly peanut butter to equal 1/3 cup)
1/2 milk powder ( the bulk barn is great for this)
a pinch of salt
1 egg
3 cups whole wheat flour

Knead for a few minutes. I used my kitchenaid and dough hook.
Pat or roll to 1/2 thick. Be fancy and cut into dog bone shapes, or do like I do, and cut into a rectangle because I figure the dog couldn't care less about appearance. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet. 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Turn off oven, and leave them there overnight. This recipe seems better liked by Sandee, and I tasted one, and I have to agree. Gets real hard like a milk bone.

Dessert anyone ?

~~Businessman Angelito Araneta Jr. shows a chocolate cake topped with 15 African diamonds and covered with 24-carat gold leaves, which he plans to sell at $2,558 to men for use as a marriage proposal gift.~~

I'd prefer a cheapo diamond ring from Crescent and a maple glazed donut from Tim's.

Pay Me Marathon

We had our annual game yesterday. 17 people playing. Winners played in the finals, and losers played cards or sang karaoke. The Newphie won this year, again . Guess we'll need another game next year, to see if he can defend his title. The hostess and Mme E sang New York, New York to close the night. Great free entertainment !

There was lots of laughter, and good food. Thanks to all for participating.

What to go Benedict Boy !

Yes, the Benny the Pope has done it this time.

He says condoms are not the way to fight the war against AIDS. ( not to mention unwanted pregnancies and STD's)

He wants us to stop pushing those condoms and get everyone to abstain from sex, and have fewer partners.

Yes, let's just do that. Look at the way today's society acts, and respects one another, not to mention the young hormones swimming in flesh infested waters about 100% of the time, (in school, and out) , etc. Think it'll work.

Let's go to Africa, and spread the word !

I'll pack a picture of me and the bible when I send my sons off to college. That should keep them safe. I'll keep the case of condoms for the Home's birthday parties.

It's just so ridiculous, I am almost speechless.

Skiing nightmare

Natasha Richardson , wife of actor Liam Neeson~~ is reportedly in hospital following a skiing accident in Quebec.
The medical condition of actress Natasha Richardson — who fell Monday during a ski lesson at a Quebec resort — was being described Tuesday as anywhere from minor to life-threatening.
At the same time, a spokeswoman for the Mont Tremblant ski resort said Richardson suffered what appeared to be a relatively unspectacular fall.
The fall occurred on beginner's trail .
Lyne Lortie of the Mont Tremblant ski resort said Richardson was conscious and showed no signs of a serious head injury after she fell on a beginner run on Monday while in the company of an experienced instructor.~~

Now she reminds me of someone who was on the beginner trails, with an instructor. Lucky for me, my numerous falls and final crash into a building, did not harm me too much. Gotta watch your carcass out there !

Love has no Pride

Sis and I were talking about the Little rascals movie ( with Alfalfa, and Darla) and I was trying to think of the song they play when the boys are mad at each other and sulking.

It's .... Love Has No Pride.

I've had bad dreams too many times
to think that they don't mean much any more.
Fine times have gone and left my sad home,
friends who once cared just walk out my door.

Love has no pride when I call out your name.
Love has no pride when there's no one left to blame.
I'd give anything to see you again.

I've been alone too many nights
to think that you could come back again.
But I've heard you talk: "She's crazy to stay."
But this love hurts me so, I don't care what you say.

If I could buy your love, I'd truly try my friend
And if I could pray, my prayer would never end.
But if you want me to beg, I'll fall down on my knees;
asking for you to come back...
I'd be pleading for you to come back...
beggin for you to come back to me.

A sad looking Linda Rondstat in a short dress sings it here on you tube: Nice song. Not recommended as a cure for depression.

I used my carrot peeler today to remove all the buttons off my keyboard. While they soaked in a bit of dishwasher detergent, I cleaned the dust and gunk underneath. Son # 2 was amazed, and wanted the job of putting the keys back. He said " I've been typing for years and years, and know where they all go". And he's probably right, but I decide to take a couple pictures of the keyboard, just incase we forget where one goes.

He's doing a great job, and I am making supper. " Uh, oh" he says... " I gotta look at the camera for this one, cause I'm not sure".

"Which key is it?" I ask, "I might know."

It's the critical key, he replies.

"There's a critical key ?" I ask. He doesn't reply, and puts the camera on. All the while I am thinking... My God, a critical key? When do you use it? When everything freezes and you're completely stuck? Am I that dumb? Are these kids are smarter than me ?

" Yap Mom! It goes right where I thought it went !" and I hear the button go click into place.

The suspence is killing me and I walk over to the desk. He gladly points it out for me.

There it is, right under the shift button............. Ctrl

Calling all Liver & Onion Lovers

Made a new recipe today for dinner. It was called Gram's Liver ( Gram unknown)

Place slices of liver in an ungreased baking dish. Add salt and Pepper. Add onion slices . Add carrots, sliced. Place bacon slices on top of carrots, to cover entire dish. Cook uncovered. Recipe says to Bake at 325 for an hour.

I used a 9 X 13 glass dish. I scalded my carrot slices because I didn't think they would cook enough, and my oven temp doesn't read right. I also used scissors to trim some fat from the bacon slices. I had it in the oven for 2 hours, but don't know at what temp ( I assume it was likely around 300,) then for the last half hour I put the heat up, (it was probably to 350) until the bacon looked yummy. And the entire casserole was yummy. Nice and tender, and so moist. Easy to make and to clean. Son # 1 said to make it again. He said even the carrots are super.

As you may know, bartering is becoming more and more popular. I read today that ~~a New York funeral director is offering a free funeral to someone who will undertake a construction job at his Manhattan home in exchange.~~
There is also a website where you can check out bartering trades.

I see someone from Barrington Passage looking to offer services in exchange for a one week all-inclusive vacation for 2 in the Carribean.

One that caught my eye is a man from Texas, offering a garden cement scupture (up to 3 tons) in exchange for "dental work, a lot of it".

Can't you just picture him?

Blog gone to the dogs

Yeah, some of my readers were thinking my blog had gone to the dogs. Posting a dog treat recipe, of all things. Well, here's a link to free food or chews for your dog, or free food for your cat. A guy goes to the supermarket and notices an attractive woman waving at him.
She says hello. He's rather taken aback because he can't place where he knows her from.

So he says, 'Do you know me?'

To which she replies, 'I think you're the father of one of my kids.'

Now his mind travels back to the only time he has ever been unfaithful to his wife and says, 'Are you the stripper from the bachelor party that I made love to on the pool table with all my buddies watching while your partner whipped my butt with wet celery?'

She looks into his eyes and says calmly, "No, I'm your son's teacher."

happy Birthday Barbie

So, Barbie was 50 yesterday, she doesn't look a day over 16 , and has avoided any middle age spread.

I had a few. Some got their hair trimmed, face marked, arms broke, their shoes never stayed on, had legs with rigamortis, and some of their toes got chewed off. Mine never even got a date with Ken.
I read that ~~ Barbie has been an astronaut, paleontologist, teacher, surgeon, veterinarian, dentist, fashion model, flight attendant, NASCAR driver and princess. “Numerous studies show that staying socially connected and living up to your potential can help ward off dementia, so Barbie is doing what she can to stay mentally healthy,” ~~

Good grief. I bet she dyes her hair and has hemorrhoids.

Not lonely anymore

Not lonely as I hear the maytag repair man will be busy for awhile.
Check here to see if yours is being recalled.

~~Maytag is recalling 1.6 million refrigerators, including almost 200,000 in Canada, because the pose a fire hazard. The units were sold between January 2001 and January 2004.
This recall involves certain Maytag®, Jenn-Air®, Amana®, Admiral®, Magic Chef®, Performa by Maytag® and Crosley® brand side-by-side and top-freezer refrigerators. The affected refrigerators were manufactured in black, bisque, white, and stainless steel.
An electrical failure in the relay, the component that turns on the refrigerator's compressor, can lead to overheating; this poses a serious fire hazard.

Consumers should immediately contact Maytag to determine if their refrigerator is included in this recall and to schedule a free in-home repair. Consumers should not return the refrigerator to the place of purchase.
For more information, consumers can contact Maytag toll-free at 1-866-533-9817 ~~

This morning

Don't you just love the first morning post-time change. Super tired. I dragged myself out of bed and made a coffee. Folgers brags that the best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup..... I disagree. The best part of waking up, is without an alarm clock, or a cat ,sitting near your head, purring, and cleaning himself in some forbidden yoga pose that even Monique can't master.

Well, it's out there... and you can get a free one compliments of Charmin Toilet tissue. Is called the Charmin toilet paper extender... for those double rolls, I guess. The hostess should get one.

Gotta go Potty

Found these cute "potty training charts" for your little one.

I trained #2 son over a long weekend. I threw the diapers out, and put only underwear in his dresser drawer. I told him, there's no more diapers... that's it , they're all gone. Only underwear from now on. He did good, we went outside for a walk, and he peed in his pants. I reminded him .. " I told you there's no more diapers". He said, yes there is, at the "Farmer-save"!
Same child, a year later, has the potty mastered and is on the toilet. I decide to put the potty in the attic. I wash it and disinfect it, and place it on the stairs, to carry up when I go. Loverboy, the neat freak, brings it up, and says " God! Did you wash it? It smells." He peaks inside, and my little boy had secretly used the potty on the stairs and left us one more poo as a souvenir. Too funny !

Sweet and lucky

Went to a cake parade yesterday and won, and won, and won. Came home with 18 food items, not counting the beans and speghetti sauce I gave away. I was feeling a bit embarrassed after 4 times. Funny how 3 of us there kept winning over and over again. Last time I went I won once. I sat in the redneck's chair, and it must have given me luck. To top it off, at the end, I won something that I had bought a ticket for as well. Lady Di won the much needed scrapbooking supplies.

So, I had a card game last night, and we had plenty goodies. We are keeping/freezing the 3 chocolate cakes, and I guess the cook at work will be getting a break today.

I read the paper this morning. The Valley is getting 8 kms of road, we wish a Happy 10th Birthday to Viagra for being so uplifting, and a woman in Ohio was charged with putting her infant's life in danger by breastfeeding, and talking on the cell phone while driving. Now, assuming she only has 2 hands, either the baby or the phone was not being held. I'd like to think it was the phone. Despite having nothing but ill feelings towards this woman, you have to give her credit. She can multitask.

Bahamas pic ..... taken by the sailor. Such privacy and peacefulness.

What I wouldn't give for a few hours there, blanket, sunscreen and cooler.

Tuesday's small performance

Son #1 playing at church. (The sound on my camera is not the best) . That's my littlest niece and her aunt you will see. This song he played after the small ceremony. He said the sound was awful, and poor sustain, but he likely needs a little guidance from an organ pro. I , of course, proud mom, thought it was great.
