Baby Names

So the Little one at the Credit Union is going to have a baby ! Congrats !
Picking out baby names is a lot of fun.
It's also a big lesson. You each learn a lot about yourself.
You learn who influenced you negatively since your childhood.
May sound strange, eh? But think about it.
You're tossing out names at each other, and I know what happens..
" Anthony ? You have got to be kidding. There was an Anthony next door, I couldn't stand him !"
" Bertha ? No way. There was a Bertha in Brownies, and she was so ugly and rude."

and it goes on and on. It's a good experience.
And we have all done it as expecting parents.

Week #5 Mexican Taco casserole

Yup, now we're talking ! I found and tried this recipe. The real thing can be found here , but of course I had to modify it so it would get eaten.
I forgot to grease the 12 x 9 dish, but it didn't seem to make difference
Preheat oven at 375F.
Break 12 taco shells . You'll need to cover the bottom of your dish with some, and have enough for a second layer. ( I used some taco shells on the bottom, and nachos on the top.
Fry hamburg and onion, drain.
Add a jar mild taco sauce ( it called for 3/4 cups, and there was about nothing left in the small jar, so I tossed it in)
Add 1 cup water
Add a package taco seasoning mix.
On the bottom chips, add half the hamburg mixture.
Top that with 1 cup grated cheddar cheese.
Add the rest of the broken chips, or shells
Add the rest of the hamburg, and topped with another cup of cheese.
Bake 20-25 minutes.

Result : it was cooked after 13 minutes. I took it out. It cut easy and serves easy. Says it serves 4 and indeed it would. It was very filling. And very good. Son #1 loved it. He said it was definitely better than last weeks hamburg-soup-tasting casserole, but not too sure if it was better than the chicken pie. He said this casserole thing is a good. It makes us try new ways to eat regular food. So right.

Tidy Tuesday

Dust is today's topic.
Not long after Loverboy moved in with me, he picked up a dust bunny in the hallway upstairs.
"What's this?" he asked seriously.
I answered with a smirk... " a dust bunny?"
He had never seen one before, and as he walked through our upstairs,( then varnished plywood floors), a dust bunny had pretty much passed him by.
He had never seen that before, and was looking into it.
"It's basically dust, and hair, and dead skin cells" I explained as he dropped it into the waste basket.
" And where did it come from?"he asked.
Poor soul I thought.
Dusting is the worst chore. Of course you should start from the top and work your way down.
Waxing wooden surfaces makes dusting easier, and although I am not an "endust" user, pros recommend it.
I read that leather furniture is great for avoiding dust.
I love my ostrich feather duster and use it when I can write my name on furniture.
Matte finish paint is more dust friendly than glossy.
And keep an eye out on your vents. If you never dust that bookshelf, and it's parked near a vent, chances are the dust from it is getting blown everywhere. Same goes with cat litter box placed near a vent. Dusty.
The last tip I will share, is keeping your windows closed, and the dust out.
Easy to say, but we haven't seen the sun since April !

Plane man

I found out that Steak tips are simply pieces of cut up sirloin steak.

I'll be trying them soon.

I'll let you know how they were.

What the heck was that?

you asked.
That was the embryo of a porbeagle shark.
An embryo only a mother could love.

Monday's sexual post

Monday again ! I was reading an article whereas "the head of his penis is as soft as a rose petal".

That's pretty soft. I read that the British refer to the head of the penis,(or glans), as helmet , knob end, or bell end.

The circumcised penis is mostly exposed, and dry, and for obvious reasons. The uncircumcised penis tends to remain more moist, since it has a foreskin hanging around. It's also supposed to be more sensitive.

Phimoses is a condition where the head of the penis cannot fully come out from the foreskin. Circumcision is a remedy, also steroidal cream, and depending how tight things are, you may be able to stretch it. Ask your doctor.

Fordyce, are little white spots that may be on your penis or testicles. They are harmless and you'll never rid of them, so don't waste your time trying.

Hypospadias is a condition where your pee hole isn't in the right place. Doesn't affect anything.

I was surprised to learn nature's reason for the somewhat mushroom shape of the glans. Supposedly it is designed to wipe out any body else's semen as you have intercourse, so that your semen will be the one to win that race to the egg. Ewww.

Sorry about the bad pic today. All the others were so plain looking.... soft as a rose petal.

Neighbourette, as he calls me, has a very nice metal wind whirly gig in his yard.

Now I can tell when the pound is going to smell up our road.

It's awesome !

Blah, blah, blah

I am looking forward to the new credit union.

I have a dream that the parking there will be simplified, and that when you back out, you aren't about to back into a passing car.

I don't know if I have ever back out of there without a car coming from the post office.

And the poor West Pubnico people.... could someone give them a decent place to collect their mail?

It's been raining for 40 days and 40 nights, and these poor souls have got these outside boxes to deal with. Can't you just picture a big white catering tent over those mailboxes?

Give them the neighboring credit union building !

And ask Staples to put a small outlet in there, to at least sell printer ink so we don't have to run to Yarmouth, or borrow from the doctor's office.

How about a stressfree laundry service... where you can drop off all the dirty clothes that are inside out. I have a hamperful... mostly all inside out!

C'est assez !

Pizza Take Out

Did you know that the Red Cap's gourmet 9" pizzas are now available for take out ? I didn't know !

They have pepperoni, works, Greek, and all meat.

And they have garlic fingers as well.

I have ate the Greek pizza, and the garlic fingers... both very, very yummy.

Right now their works pizza is $9.00.

The Genetic Journey

Here's some pretty interesting stuff....

The Genographic Project.

For $99 to buy a DNA sampling kit, you can learn where you came from, and how you got to where you are today.

I read a list of the first Zellers to be transformed into Target stores.

In Nova Scotia , it will be the Zellers in Mic Mac Mall and also the one in Bedford Place.

In New Brunswick, it is the one in McAllister Place.

In PEI, it's the Zellers in Charlottetown mall.

Magic Wipe

Well I can't say enough about these Magic Wipe cloths.

My mom picked me up one at Dollarama. I was so impressed, and excited to find them at the local Pharmasave for a mere 89 cents.

Buy one. You'll be amazed at the softness.

I am using the one Mom gave me as a dishcloth, but was so amazed with the 8 layer texture, I just had to buy a couple more, to clean with. One for upstairs, and one for downstairs.

It's called Magic Wipe.

Free Veet Sample Kit

I love Veet. Used it this afternoon. Either I am getting used to the pain of waxing my armpits, or I am simply tougher. I only buy the green box. Seems the best.

For a dim lighted shopping experience, with music just a little notch too loud, Hollister is the place for you !

Week #4 Slow Cooker Hambuger Casserole

This recipe I found has 5 Weight watcher points for 1 cup, provided the hamburger is extra lean.
1 pound of hamburger
1/2 cup onions chopped
1 can mushrooms
1 cup chopped celery( which I skipped)
2 cups potatoes sliced
1 and 1/2 cups carrots
1 cup frozen peas, thawed( I used a couple cups frozen mixed peas and carrots instead, never thawed them first either)
1 cup kernel corn ( I added a whole can)
1 can tomato soup
1/2 cup water
Brown the meat, celery, mushrooms. Drain the fat, and put into your greased slow cooker.
Add the veggies. Stir in all in. ( I was scared to do so, so I kind of layered it a bit.)
Mix the tomato soup and water together, and pour it in.
Add salt and pepper
Cook 6 to 8 hours on low.
Results: Although it looked dry when I got home, it had plenty liquid it it. Didn't have to add any, but stirred up the veggies a bit. I forgot to take a picture.
Comments: "tastes just like hamburg soup" .... " you shouldn't have added mushrooms" .... "too many veggies, and not enough hamburg and potatoes". I agreed to all the comments. I found it a bit fresh.

Happy Birthday

Happy 61st Birthday to the Plane Man.

Just a few days ago he beat his baby spice girl (of 31) in a 10k race by 0.0083 km/hr.

How impressive is that ! He was number one in the Brady bunch !

May he continue to be an inspiration in the air and on land !

Old Trophies?

This caught my eye today.

A coat rack made from old trophies... hmmm

Design Sponge have the instructions.

If I could only find a use for 50 baseball caps...

Son #1 came in and saw the slow cooker on the counter.

" What is this? Casserole #4?"

I was in shock !

"What does that mean?" I asked innocently.

He replied... "Oh I know. A casserole a every week for a WHOLE YEAR!!!"

"SHH! " I warned him.... "your father doesn't know."

Gay marriages

I was listening to Sirius radio today. They mentioned that it was today in 2004 that the first legal gay marriage happened in the USA, in Massachusetts.

And now " the gay community can marry, and be as miserable as the rest of us".

I thought it was so cute !

Nature's Bounty

Fish Oil sample.

Tidy Tuesday

Warmth and moisture is a great recipe for mold on windows.

Moisture certainly hasn't been rare these days !

If you see it, get rid of it. It is bad for your health and will only grow.

I use a squirt bottle with half Javex and half water.

I place an old towel under the window because of the javex.

I also use an old toothbrush to scrub it off near seams and caulking.

In my camper, every spring, I use yellow vim in the squirt bottle to remove any mold inside the metal window casing. Works like a charm.

They are having the Senior/Grandmother tournament at 9:00.

There is a sign up sheet around the bathroom in the cellar at the golf course.

Monday's Sexual Topic

Time is of the essence.
So how much time?
Therapists say that women don't take as long to be satisfied as we may think.
3 to 12 minutes is usually okay.
Don't get too excited male readers.... as that doesn't include foreplay.
Women in the USA participated in a survey and had sex, with stop watches on their wrist.
1500 women did the survey and 7.3 minutes was the average for intercourse.
When it comes to foreplay, men are microwaves and women are ovens... usually.
Women who have been flirted with all day, may have their oven preheated a bit, and it could take less time.
(Hopefully it was the husband doing the flirting. Either way... it can help.)
If you are too tired at night for 7.3 minutes of intercourse, have sex at the start of the day, or mid afternoon, before you get tired.
(meaning with your partner, not the milkman )
I read an article, for men, and they had new foreplay suggestions to make her hot !
1)They were kissing and dry humping on the couch as you did when you were young
2)secretly touching an inappropriate place when sex is impossible at this time; such as running your hand up her top while choosing a song at the jukebox.( Hopefully not the one at the Red Cap)
3) deep kissing
4) massaging
5) sending a sexy text message if you can spell correctly

Toilet Tissue

I was surprised to learn that some people are actually very sensitive to toilet tissue. So sensitive that they won't use the start,or the end of the roll, where there may have been glue.

I just thought that was very interesting.

Is there really glue at the start? I thought it was just "crimped a bit".

June bugs

Yes, the blessed June bug.
Actually they don't bug me that much.
They are rather awkward, and sluggish, and they are plentiful indeed.
I'm with LN on this one..... give me a June bug anyday instead of a tick.
Flinging a June Bug is no problem, but freaking out & flinging a tick into the great unknown of your room causes worry.

Your friendly Co-op

Maybe they just know me too well at the Co-op.
I had my arms loaded with 2 hams today, as I headed towards the frozen peas.
Friendly employee Lady Di was right beside the freezer door, so I asked her
" Hey, why don't pass me a bag of those peas & carrots"
And she did.
I held them for a moment, and said:
"Do you mind swapping this one for another? This one is all in a clump."
No problem she said...
She took the bag.
Dropped it on the floor.
Passed it back to me.
No more clump.
I said thank you and away I went.
As I walked away I shouted " I'm going to blog about this friendly service !!"

Oh, your friendly co-op. ( And the peas and carrots were indeed unharmed in this situation)

Week #3 Chicken Pie

Well today I made a chicken pie with some leftover chicken.
I tried to find a "normal" recipe, one with potatoes and no spices. It wasn't that easy.
So I made what I thought would do....
I sauteed some onion in butter, and then made a white sauce (added a bit more butter, and 1.5 tablespoons of flour, and over a cup of milk) Afterwards, I added 1 can of cream of chicken soup, and threw in a tiny bit of chicken stock after I skimmed the fat off of it.
Got this nice and hot and thick, and turned it off.
Added 3 cups diced potatoes, salt and pepper, 1 cup frozen mixed carrots and peas, and 2 cups diced leftover chicken. Left it aside to parcook in the pot, and made my pie crust.
I always make great crust :)
Divided the chicken stuff into 2 pie shells, topped them with a top crust, and baked them at 350F for 45 minutes.
Enjoyed it.
Comments at the table were: "this is really good mame"& "nothing wrong with this meal". And they had seconds !
What more can I say !

My armpits

Yes, my armpits smell great.
Today I used the Avon liquid deodorant, aluminum free stuff.
As crazy as it sounds, I smelled my pits periodically all day.
I worked in a hot environment, pulled weeds, had an afternoon delight, biked, and yet my arm pits smelled fabulous through it all.
It passed the test.

Pubnico's most Beautiful Women List

Yes, well you men have been asking for it.
And you can forget about it. There will never such a list.
Don't you know us women by now?
We can't handle anything like that !
Our brains aren't made that way.
It's a proven fact and it's OK.
We are too emotional.
We'll forever despise the ones who made the list.
Like an elephant, we never forget. Surely you know that!
We'll be saying things like," Have you seen her lately? She aged so much! She'd never make that list now !"
That's how we women work !
20 years later, we'll have too many glasses of wine, and whine about that list we should have made when we were young and beautiful.
Leave it to the males ! You men really know how to do it.
You can have a few choice words with another male; maybe even tell him he's f'ng crazy, and the next day, you're right back at the same table, having a coffee and a yarn.
Women can't do that.
And they can't handle a beautiful women list.
We're special.
And we're all beautiful :)

Detergent Dilemma

Yes, we are having a detergent dilemma.

I made the homemade dishwasher detergent. It works great. Cleans very well, better than the others..... BUT now my glassware and my cutlery is starting to lose their shine.

Hmmm. What to do? I checked my jet dry thing, and it's still full. Does it even work?

I must look for another recipe.

Has anyone else made some?

The laundry powder I made, and posted on here, has been fabulous indeed. 2 tbsp for a full load, and I have zero complaints.

The Over 40 Bike Club

I recently created the Over 40 bike club.
We are 16 members and we have been doing great, trying to coordinate at least one bike ride a week. (Yes, Piano lady, I haven't forgotten about you.)
We started with a 10km ride, and we have been gradually increasing distance, and stamina, for sure. My first ride was a killer, and at the 2km mark, I thought I might keel over. But it gets easier all the time.
I have an odometer, and the true biker has bear spray. We are all set.
We have been trying different routes here and there, and are having a great time with it.
Tonight I biked to Argyle Sound to visit Tante T.
As I turned into the Sound, I started to wonder about the large hill. Surely I would make it.
When I passed the Dancing Queen's driveway, I could see that big hill up ahead.
I coasted well past Lawyer number 1's house.
At Lawyer number 2's house, things were slowed down tremendously.
I was determined not gear down to the lowest, and just like the little train that could, I did it !
The other side of the hill was awesome... 44 km/hour.

One day last month, son #2 arrived from school.
His entrance never goes unnoticed. The door swings wide, and so does his mouth....helllloooo!
He was bouncing with excitement, and we had to guess.
After several wrong guesses, he told us.
"Madame J walked in the class today.
Let me tell you, she was hardly touching the ground.
She was beaming.
Mame, I mean really beaming !
She had news to tell us, and a ring on her finger
Mame, you could really tell she was happy !!"

Congrats Mme J!
I can't say I ever saw him so excited over an engagement.
Apparently it was written all over your face !

Martha Stewart

Oh that Martha Stewart.

Just look how neatly she stores sheet sets. She folds the two sheets and pillowcase small enough to fit into the second pillowcase, therefore keeping all the sheet sets neatly together.

We all know that it's that fitted sheet that will be the bugger.

Tidy Tuesday

It's all about the clothes today.
Did you know that we wear 20% of our wardrobe, 80% of the time ?

Yes, read it again.

I always have had a rule. Bring something new to the closet, and decide what's going out.

I read that we have 3 groups of clothes.

The don't wear it anymore group. Either it doesn't fit, you don't wear it or it is oudated. And if it did fit, would you wear it? Give it or toss it.

The useful clothes. You need these for special occassions. However, don't let them get too old.

The regular clothes. Keep them nice, wear them often.

Don't toss clothes onto the floor. If it's a habit you have, get a hamper, or even a laundry basket for your room. It'll look better than a dirty pile on the floor.

I also read that you can make use of the space beneath your bed, for storage of clothes.

It'll never happen here. Loverboy is too interested in dust bunnies. He needs a clear view of them.

Monday's Sexual Post

Good morning.
Hope all the men, including the little grey one, are sleeping well, after last week's broken penis topic.
Being stuck is the topic today .
Simply put, can his penis get stuck inside of you?
Well chances are very rare.
Supposedly the vagina walls can spasm and clamp down, not letting him go.
In my unprofessional opinion, I imagine it takes a very big penis, and no doubt if she's got that much muscle and that little lubricant, I seriously doubt that monster penis can even get in!
Women have had condoms stuck inside their vagina, and also tampons lost up there. No fear, they can't go anywhere. If your fingers aren't long enough to reach it, even when you bear down a bit, find a man with long fingers to help you, or go to the doctor. It's more common than you think. No need to feel embarrassed.
Men ? Those men have inserted their penises in more things than I can name.
I read about an Asian man having his penis stuck in a steel park bench, which had holes in it. (so much for the small Asian penis theory). Took 4 hours and a grinder to get him out.
Penises have been stuck in vacuum cleaners, steel pipes, bottles, a padlock and even an exhaust pipe. One man decided to lengthen his penis by using a heavy nut, and allowing the weight to naturally lengthen it. Trouble is, he got an erection, and the nut needed a trip to the ER and a small surgery procedure.
One cheating husband had his wedding ring stuck on his penis. His mistress put it on there after he fell asleep. Things became swollen and stuck. He must be a sound sleeper, and either has very large fingers or...

I Fail

I try to text with my blackberry pearl . It has two letters per button. It's hard even though I have had it a long time. The kids are always making fun of my texts.
I told son # 1 the other day that I had tuna and nuns, so maybe we could have that for supper.
Today he sent me a text. Trying to be cool, I wanted to answer "K".
But I sent a "J".
He told me: Face it Mom, you fail with any electronic communication device that requires one to press a key.

Good grief.

All in a day's work

This week, at work, someone approached me and said...
" You know, Mr "x" has been complaining that his balls are worn."
I replied..." Really? Worn ? You mean, like, chafed?"
No, he means the tennis balls on his walker !
It was one of the funniest misunderstandings we have ever had at work !
We laughed all day, and yes, I put new tennis balls on his walker.

Week #2 Slow cooker Lasagna

Well this morning I decided to make a lasagna for lunch.

I read a lot of recipes past few days, and ended up with a recipe of my own. Kid friendly indeed. ( no garlic, mushrooms or cottage cheese)

I rubbed the crock pot with oil. Fried up hamburg and onion. Drained any fat. Added a jar of Ragu sauce, and 1 cup of water to the hamburg.

Placed a cup of this sauce on the bottom of the crock pot.

Added a layer of oven ready lasagna noodles. Broke some pieces to fit. I read in one recipe to dampen each noodle with water, so I did just that.

More sauce, cheese ( fresh grated Parmesan, and mozzarella), noodles, and repeat. I would have made a thicker lasagna, but I was running out of sauce. I ended the layering with the sauce. Put it on for 4.5 hours. 10 minutes before the end, I ran home and added mozzarella cheese. It melted in a minute or two. I could see where the edges of the lasagna were browning.

I snapped a quick pic, and brought a piece of it to work where I savoured every bite.

Loverboy and son #1 were impressed ! It was good ! Better than any I have ever made. No queer stuff ! Wow, quite the compliment.
