My Coffee Plunger

One of the best gifts I ever received from my sis, was my coffee plunger.
The grinds are loose in the hot water, and when you are ready, you "plunge" a filter to the bottom, trapping all the grinds. It makes the best coffee !
I love making coffee on Saturday mornings, and in the summer, when camping, I make coffee at 9:30 for any special guests .... as they know coffee is on.
In Keji, I had two stubborn Surettes arrive one morning at 9:30 sharp, clad in their PJ's, looking for a cup of java.
Short of a few clean mugs, I set out two glass mugs, and two disposable, take-out cups.
The brattiest of the two spoke up ... " Do you suppose it means we're not welcomed to stay long?"
It was funny !
Yes, I love the camaraderie as much as the coffee, maybe even more !

Tidy Tuesday

We are talking light bulbs today.

Going forever without dusting them with a damp cloth will cause less light to shine through. Back in the day of incandescent light bulbs, that did not last long, it was no big deal. But today's bulbs are meant to last, and you should clean them.

Bulbs also hold scents if not cleaned. And when they are lit, scent will emit.... especially cigarette smoke.

And on the same topic, you can use perfume, or natural oils, on or near your light bulb. When it's lit, you'll get a pleasant fragrance. Of course, never spray on a lit or hot light bulb, as it may break.

Incandescent bulbs are hotter and emit more scent, but other bulbs should work as well.

Tuesday at the Museum

Tomorrow at the Acadian Museum in West Pubnico, author Nicole d'Entremont, will be reading from her newest book, and practicing a few French lines :) She visited Pont du Marais today, and had an audience who appreciated her and her work. She has roots on East Pubnico, but calls Peaks Island, Maine, her home.
Peaks Island trivia... In 1941, Jean Stapleton ( Edith Bunker) made her first public appearance at the island's Greenwood Garden Playhouse and in 2000, the census for the island was 843, but in the summer the population swells to 6000.
7pm at the Museum.
See you there !

Monday's Sexual Post

While I hate to think your bedroom talk includes my name, you may want to try these two sex positions.

The Hitch:
He is on all fours facing away from you, while you lay on your back with legs in the air, relaxing, and enjoying the view.
You can maximize stimulation of the vaginal walls by constricting your muscles, or by opening and closing your thighs.

This picture is pretty self explanatory. I am posting it for all you women who have purchased and love your zero-gravity chairs, such as Lancette and KLS. Now summer is turning into fall, why not move those chairs into the bedroom, and give it a try !

The real thing.
The pouring down kind.
And I like umbrellas with clear material.
It's the kid in me.

Goodnight Irene ?

So... whose next? Names alternate between female and males. Next up is:

In the event that more than 21 named hurricanes occur in the Atlantic in a season, storms will take names from the Greek alphabet: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, etc.

Week #17 Fish Pie

Well, at last ! Loverboy says this is the best thing he has ate in a long time !
I looked at several recipes, many ask for smoked fish, but I made this one with fresh haddock.
I baked a couple haddock fillets with a chopped onion, salt and pepper, and milk.
I boiled potatoes.
When they were cooked, I mashed them up, and added the juices from the baked haddock, for moisture.
Then I added the haddock and tossed it around with a fork.
I added 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese quickly blended that slightly.
I put this in a dish that I greased with olive oil.
I buttered the top.
Baked 20 minutes at 415F
COMMENTS: We all put butter on it. I liked it, it was good with pickles. Loverboy ate his with relish. He couldn't say enough about how good it was. Son #1 tried an itsy bite, and loaded his plate. He also liked it. I think I should have had a heavier shredded cheese, I grated my own, and I think a larger cut would have been better.

Happy Birthday Storyteller

I had a little chuckle today as I wished the storyteller a birthday on Facebook.
He studied at "Shoppe a Slu".
I thought that was so cute !
He was shopping for paint this week, as was I.
I left the parking lot with my vehicle, and he left with his ride on mower, with matching yellow and white trailer in tow.
Always a fancy mode of transportation, to make one envious !

Radical Jack

Recently I visited the sailor and Mrs L on the Radical Jack while they were in port in picturesque Shelburne.
Life on the Radical Jack is much better than I imagined.
I pictured a very small space, but once inside, seated at the table, it all looked pretty cozy.
Enough floor space to do the jitterbug and all the comforts of home, if you can spot them.
Computer, small flat LCD TV with two channels, fans, lights, books galore, a queen size bed, a toilet that fries your poop, stereo system, satelite radio, a couple sinks, closet, and compartments everywhere you turn. I see there was flour, and plans to make a black forest cake for an auction.
Stove, oven, fridge and ice cream in a freezer.
Why there was even a mini propane fireplace by my side!
I asked tons of questions, and was impressed with the whole set up.
The sailor even showed me his latest painting, just hours old ! Yes, time for a hobby and supper with friends.... that's what vacations are for !
A couple would really have to love one another to set out for an entire year of sailing, however, while tied at the wharf, I think I could spend three or four days there, especially with Charlotte's Lane a short walk away.
"It isn't that life ashore is distasteful to me. But life at sea is better."
-Sir Francis Drake

La Vie

La vie va faire une femme de toi.
That was the title of the cutest little play we watched today at the Acadian Village here in West Pubnico.
Great job !

The Fool

I am a grown adult and fully capable of making a fool of myself, without any help.
Tonight, I dropped off 4 teenagers at Junior High . They're doing a basketball skills camp until 9pm.
So, I decided to take in a movie.
I got back into my car at 8:45 and headed to school.
When I am almost there, son #1 sends me a text.
"Mom, get your a$$ here", it says.
I laugh at the language, and figure they must be done early and are waiting outside.
I pull in and in the dim light, I see 4 figures on the lawn, and decide I will fix them... I will embarrass them.
SO I put the four way flashers on and lay on the horn all the way to them.
It draws attention, for sure, as the four on the lawn are two mothers and their daughters chatting.
The boys are inside.
I sure hope they don't recognize me at the game Friday.

Where the Heck is Jules?

We both didn't realize it was Wednesday morning.
I plucked him out of bed to travel him to this off road to get his picture taken at this funny place.

Last week, I am not 100% certain where Emile was, on that water. I assume it's near WS Fisheries.
Jules was on Tracy and Marcel's swings, in the woods near Yvette & Edgar's backyard, and the picture on the cement wall was at WS Fisheries.

I am now fully awake... Comments allowed.

Tidy Tuesday

Here's a few bits and bites I have read lately....

1) It's a love /hate relationship I have with wrapping paper. Love it all, and hate to store it. This picture is of the top of a closet. Designed, with what looks like two pieces of wire, to hold wrapping paper rolls.

2) According to Martha Stewart if you do end up with carpet ghosts (indentations left by furniture in pile carpet) place an ice cube in the divot. The fibers will swell as they absorb the water. Vacuum carpet thoroughly to pull up wet fibers.

3) If your shower head is partially clogged, fill a plastic bag with vinegar and place the bag over the head so it is submerged; and seal the bag with a rubber band. Let it soak 8 hours or overnight.

Babies and Cribs

I see that LDot has no more cribs in the house.
I remember when our youngest kept climbing out of his crib.
The climbing was too dangerous, so he got a big boy bed.
He wouldn't stay in his room, so we placed a child proof door knob cover on the inside of his door.
He would make a fuss, therefore his brother would come out of his bedroom, and free him.
So for awhile, we also placed a child proof door knob cover on the outside of his door.
Whew ! Sounds like a lot of work.
Good luck and sleep well.
It seems just like yesterday, and now that we practically turn in at the same time, the lock should be on my door.

Dinnertime Conversation

Son #1 : Mom, you used my laptop and saved a few "pictures" that are embarrassing!

Mom: Whoops. You're right. I saved a couple pictures that I thought might be good for my blog.

Son #1: Well, take them off !

Mom : I will.

The silent one: We must be the only household where the mother gets warned about the internet and inappropriate stuff.

Week #16 Hodge Podge

Hodgepodge, or Hodge Podge, however you spell it, is a favorite in Nova Scotia. I had never made this for my family, although I made it in my previous life.

There's not really a recipe for it, but this is what I did:

Prepared vegetables ( must be new vegetables )

6 small new potatoes

Fresh peas out of pod

A handful of yellow beans

A handful of green beans

A bunch of baby carrots

I boiled my potatoes and the carrots for 10 minutes or so, and tossed in the beans. After another 10 , I threw in the peas.

After about 40 minutes total, I made sure the potatoes were cooked, and drained the veggies.

I added 3 tbsp of butter, some salt, and 1 and a half cups of blend cream.

Heated it well, and tossed the veggies around. Do not boil, and it's ready.

Some folks whisk up a tablespoon of flour in the melted butter before adding the cream, and I am guilty of that.

Comments: were all positive as it's truly delicious. The larger males in the family were asking "aren't we having any meat or fish with this? " The answer was no, as it's a veggie meal. So Loverboy reheated up some leftover pork for himself. The leftover hodgepodge was saved, and that's always a good sign.

My hodgepodge ingredients were bought at the Thursday Farm Market in Tusket. It's sold by the bagful, and called HodgePodge mix. How easy is that ?

On aging

A doctor on his morning walk, noticed the old lady pictured here.
She was sitting on her front step smoking a cigar, so he walked up to her and said,

"I couldn't help but notice how happy you look! What is your secret?"

"I smoke ten cigars a day," she said. "Before I go to bed, I smoke a nice big joint.
Apart from that, I drink a whole bottle of Jack Daniels every week, and eat only junk food.
On weekends, I pop pills, get laid, and I don't exercise at all."

"That is absolutely amazing! How old are you?"

"Forty," she replied

Greek Pasta Salad

I am not 100% sure of the name of this pasta salad, but it must be called Greek.
It's sold at the Red Cap, and available as a grab and go.
If you like Greek Salad, you'll love this !
I have ate some 4 days in a row !

The Smiling Bride

Here' s a special hello to the Smiling Bride.

Where the Heck is Jules?

Jules isn't available for his regular picture.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
So I shall include three photos of Jules planking, however the first picture is Emile planking at the shore.
Kids are into planking now a days.
Planking is simply a person laying facedown like a plank.
The last three photos are of Jules, and they were all taken in the same off road.

Last week he was sitting on a bench at on a property on the Dennis Point Road.

Tidy Tuesday

Cleaning baseboards is the topic this Tuesday.
Tips to clean and keep them clean:
Wring your soapy rag as dry as you can.
Of course, a flat paint cleans the hardest, and dust clings to it the most.
White shows everything, and you already know that.
Your vacuum brush should get rid of some dust.
I read one person uses their swiffer duster.
I often use my feather duster for a quick clean up.
One cup vinegar to 5 cups really warm water also works.
I also read about a lady who sprays them with a cleaner before wiping them... but I disagree with spraying part. Face it, there is no easy way out when it comes to cleaning the baseboards... the vacuum brush and then a rag works for me.
Once they are clean, experts suggest you rub a fabric softener sheet on them to prevent dust from settling on them.

Monday's Sexual Post (repost)

I thought since it's National Acadian Day, it would be fitting that I would repost this one about Acadian lovers. The regular Monday post is just below.

: Language may be considered offensive. Make sure you are old enough, mature, and laid back enough, to read this.

I wanted to talk about the french language, and it's seemingly lack of "sexy" words, when it comes to rolling in the sack with your loved one. If your lover is English, there are endless phrases in which to use to direct him, or excite him.
I'll share with you some English phrases I read and their "Quebec" french translation in italic.

I want to have sex with you.
Je veux te baiser. (J'veux t'baiser.)
An Acadian french lover may say: râper(as in potatoes), fourrer ( as in insert a key) or graisser ( as in grease a pan with oil) or one of many other crappy words . None are kinder than "faire l'amour".

Let's have sex.
Allons faire la bête à deux dos. (Allons, toé y moé, foutre à c'qu'on perd conscience.)
An Acadian french lover may say: Allons nous coucher, allons sur un morceau d'peau.... or maybe something even less sexy.

Take off your pants / skirt.
Enlève tes pantalons / ta jupe. (Strippez tes jeans / ta jupe.)
An Acadian french lover may say: arrache des chulottes ou ta skirt, baisse tes drasses, or hausse ta robe

I want your hard cock.
Je veux ta bite bandante.
An Acadian french lover may say: pin dure

Suck it.

Lick my pussy.
Lechez ma chatte, s'il-vous-plait... (Lechez-le!)
An Acadian french lover may say: frippe-moi

I'm going to stick it in.
Je vais te l'introduire, ma bite. (J'vais t'l'introduire!)
An Acadian french lover may say nothing at all, or he may warn you by saying... j'va la met in.
Oooo scary.

Oh, yes, fuck me!
Oh, oui, baisez-moi! (Oui, fouts-moi! Oui!)
An Acadian french lover may also say yes, fuck me ....(hehe) or he/she could say oui, oui, oui!

I'm cumming!
Je jouis!
An Acadian french lover may say: j'va partir.
Funny how"cumming" in English translates to " going" in French.

The " F" word "fuck" is actually an acronym. There was a day when when England was becoming underpopulated due to plague, war, and fire. The King had issued an official order to try to replenish the population.
Hence the phrase
"Fornicate Under Command of the King" turned into the "f" word we hear today.

Monday's Sexual Post

"May I touch your Lingam?" or "May I touch your Wand of Light?"
This is Tantric Sex language. Wand of Light??? That's sure to get a laugh out of some partners! I was reading an article on Tantric Sex, and want to share the info on giving a Lingam massage. The Lingam, is the penis.
~~If he gives you permission, pour a small quantity of massage oil or water-based lubricant on his Lingam and testicles. Begin at the top of the inner thighs and moving into the crease where his legs meet the pelvis floor.
Next, massage the pubic bone. Then, move on to the scrotum, gently pulling and kneading his testicles, if he likes it. Start gently and slowly add pressure, rather than the other way around.
From his testicles, move your hand down to massage his perineum (halfway between the testicles and anus), sometimes called the "sacred spot."
Circle and pull at the tissues and gently push inward on the spot with your finger. Since the spot may feel painful at first, only increase pressure as much as he is comfortable with.
Finally, place your hand on his Lingam. As you massage the shaft, gently squeeze his Lingam at the base with your right hand, and pull up, sliding completely off. Then do the same with your left hand—squeeze his Lingam at the base, and pull up, sliding completely off. After a while, change directions—slide alternating hands from the top down to the base. Then, take the Lingam between both hands and rub your hands quickly back and forth, as if you wanted to start a fire.
( Something about that line makes me laugh)
Thoroughly massage the head by cupping it in your palm and turning your wrist, making "juicing" motion (as if you are juicing a lemon). Move from the Lingam to the testicles to the perineum and back again, noting his responses.
If, at any point, your man seems close to ejaculation, slow your movements to reduce stimulation and let him cool down before beginning again.
If you hold back his orgasm six times, a tremendous amount of sexual energy will be stored, which he can either retain or release.~~

If he releases after holding back six times... duck !

Week #15 Liver Casserole

By far the best casserole, and it's the only way we cook liver at the leBlancs.
It's son #1's favorite.
I have no picture as my camera battery died.
***Parcook some carrot slices.
Preheat your oven to 325F
Place liver on the bottom of an ungreased baking dish.
Place slices of onions.
Add the carrots & salt and pepper over it all.
Top it with uncooked bacon slices.
Cook an hour at 325F.
Cut it into squares and lift with a spatula.
Comments: C'est bon ! Yum !

Underwear registry

The women will understand.
It seems to me, that when you finally find and buy a wonderful pair of underwear, you can never find the exact kind again. Why is that?
I think there should be a Canadian Underwear Registry. Forget about that Gun Registry!
You buy your undies, and register them. When you are looking to buy more, you can easily find your name and stores that carry that exact pair. You could even see a record of the underwear you have bought.
You could buy underwear for people at Christmas !
And who knows ?
This may also become a crime solving unit with operating police forces.
The possibilities are endless.

Diner en Blanc

~~Born in Paris and spreading to Canada and the United States, the gastronomic pop-up dinner thrives on just a very few rules: Everyone wears their most elegant whites, the event happens rain or shine, and the spot stays secret until 15 minutes before, when suddenly, a dinner party for hundreds or thousands materializes.~~
I want to do this.
Can we get together and plan it?
8:30pm to midnight.
Wear elegant white, and bring your table, chairs, linens, dishes, food, drink, and candles. Pick up and clean everything when you go.
Watch it unfold here
