Sleeping single in a double bed?

Should you and your spouse sleep single or together, when living under the same roof ?
Well, experts say it depends on what you need the most.

It's safe to say that people fall asleep easier when they feel safe and secure. And most feel safer and more secure when sleeping with a partner. Therefore, although we don't get the best quality of sleep, most of us prefer to sleep with someone.

Experts claim that women in stable, long-term relationships have better quality sleep than their unpartnered friends, and women who are in highly satisfying relationships have lower rates of insomnia than those in distressed relationships.

Yet if snoring, sheet hogging, frequent urination, and different sleep schedules are keeping you apart, experts suggest you move in a different bed to get rested, occasionally.
The truth is we do get better quality of sleep alone.
Restless sleep leads to a lot of health problems.
But experts also suggest you crawl back into the master bed every morning, for your relationship sake.

SO what are the biggest benefits of sleeping together ?
No, it's not the morning sex.
No, it's not the sleep.
The real benefits of “sleeping together” are realized in the lull before the actual sleep comes.
The time couples spend together before falling asleep may be the most important time for connecting, being intimate and just being “alone together” without all of the other distractions of the day.

Bicycle Race .. Avery's Saturday Song

Bicycle Race" is a single by the English rock band Queen. It was released on their 1978 album Jazz and written by Queen's frontman Freddie Mercury. It was released as a double A-side single together with the song "Fat Bottomed Girls". The song is notable for its video featuring a bicycle race with nude women at Wimbledon Stadium, which was edited or even banned in several countries The song was written by Mercury and was inspired by his observing a stage of the 1978 Tour de France.

Close but no cigar !

Ever wonder where the line the old line "Close, but no cigar" came from ?
Wonder no more.
It comes from the carnival game " high striker", or "Test your strength", as some call it.
Contestants use a heavy mallet to test their strength, and whack a platform, with hopes to ring the bell !
If the bell rings, you win a cigar !
If you miss it's ....  Close, but no cigar !

Bedroom Color Survey results

People with blue rooms appear to be getting the best night's sleep. Blue has long been associated with feelings of calm. It's reported to even reduce blood pressure, and heart rate.
Warm yellow bedrooms placed second, in getting good sleep.
Green shades, placed third.
Silver, which mimics moonlight, is 4th place.
Orange is the 5th best for sleep, and digestion ! So if you had a big turkey meal, an orange color may help you. And orange rooms make you fall asleep faster.
Bankers and real estate agents tend to go with gold accents.
Grey, which rates different than silver, isn't the best for sleep. It, and brown, creates a restless night for you.
Purple is the absolute worst color to ensure sleep.
Cream and white bedrooms often have workaholics who bring their work to bed.
People with caramel-colored walls are having the most sex. 3 times a week on average.
Red walls ? No big deal apparently. The average number of times a couple with red bedroom walls has sex in a week: 1

2013 Harvest Exhibition

Well if you were there, you sensed it.
It was stronger than the smelly pigs lounging in the shade.
It was the immense sense of community pride on the grounds of the old school house in Lower West Pubnico.

And it was evident everywhere.
The smiles. The chatting.
The relaxation.
In a world of rush, here, there was none.
And a sense of yesteryear was everywhere.
It was comforting.
Old neighbours whose floors you muddied when you were young.
Friends you played kick the can with.
Old tractors and cars.
Vegetables, preserves and baking.
The local musicians and dancers.
The smell and sound of oxen, sheep, chickens and pigs.
The kids, many with painted faces,  marvelling at the rabbit and chicken cages, and doing what kids should be doing.
The fish pond, and other simple childhood games.
And for many hours, it all felt so simple.
I embraced it.

Thanks Nul and your team for such an effort.
49 years after the last fall fair on these grounds, you managed to capture it all back !

Canned Pineapple

Thanks to the farmer girl, I decided to bottle some pineapple that I bought on sale.
Filled hot mason jars with cut up tidbits, and poured a syrup that had been boiling over them. Sealed the jars.
Placed the jars into a water bath, for 10 minutes ( most of my jars were small, good for a snack)
The syrup I decided on was 1 part honey to 6 parts water.
I have ate one jar...  and it tasted just like canned pineapple !

The Bingo Report

Bingo as usual. Mme C was working the canteen.
Many changes coming to our BINGO table.
First of all, The Hostess may be shaving her head bald. Thankfully she
has a full shaped bottom, and we will still recognize her. Or at least we will after she passes by.

And, it's been decided that repeat winners, such as the hostess and the newphie nurse, are going to be moving to the table with Rita S.
They are set all the time, smiling like Cheshire cats, and their numbers actually get called.

We're gonna miss them.

  2. This Friday only...  get a $5 gift card for every $50 you spend.

Time for water ?

Correct time to drink water:

Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body:

2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack and will also help prevent night time leg cramps.
Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a Charlie Horse.

Window washing recipes

Most recipes are much the same:

2 cups water
3 TBS vinegar
1/2 tsp dish detergent (liquid)
1 gallon water
1/4 cup vinegar
1 tsp dish detergent (liquid)

Then I came upon this one:
  • 3 TBS lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 cups club soda (you can use water too or a mix of water and club soda)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
Pour everything into a spray bottle then shake well before using.

Tip: Wash one side of the glass in an up and down direction, on the other side scrub side to side.
This will help determine which side of the window has the streaks left behind.

How to build a penis

In some weekend conversation, we wondered how do they make a penis on a woman who has decided to be a man.
I knew of a procedure that allows our current genitalia to grow a bit with testosterone, and creates an itsy penis. Apparently it's called  metoidioplasty . And if needed, a surgical technique can lengthen it, and it can be used for urination. Then testicles can be implanted in a sack shaped from the left over labia. This micro penis has sensation of course, as the clitoris is now the head of the penis, and it can get hard during arousal. The vagina is kept as well. How handy is that ! The outcome will just look like a guy with an unusually small penis.

Phalloplasty is the least common effort used. They build a penis from skin taken from the leg and arm to form a penis from scratch. While it may look good from a distance,  it doesn't really function, or have sexual sensation. It costs $100,000 so it's safe to say it does cost an arm and a leg . I read of a bad phalloplasty job that didn't have enough circulation and began to rot.

Prosthetics however, are more reasonable. You can pack it in your carry-on luggage and strap it on when you want it.  If you want to spend a thousand bucks, I understand you can get a real good one. So good that the female can even pass at a urinal, and yes, pee while standing. The urine will come out of the penis prosthesis.

What an awesome gift for the female snowmobiler and ATV user !

Chuck E's in Love

Charlene's Saturday Song this week. I chose a 1979 favorite of mine.

The first line of the song says, "How come he don't come and PLP with me down at the meter no more?" PLP stands for Public Leaning Post, old slang for one person leaning against another (usually male and female) in a friendly fashion.
Rickie Lee Jones and her friend Tom hung around a great deal with a friend called Chuck E Weiss. After Chuck E, as they called him, disappeared for a bit, he finally called them. On the phone Chuck E confessed he had moved and was in love.  Rickie Lee hung up the phone, and told Tom " Chuck E's in love." And it sounded like a song.
Listen to it here.

40 volunteers were present on Saturday and after 4 hours work, they were done ! Amazing !
The Pubnico Walking Trail Committee wishes to thanks all who came and gave their time, and food.
A special thanks to Coastal Financial Credit Union for the donation of $100 towards the BBQ dinner.
It was much appreciated.
Later this month, gravel will be brought in and this first section of the trail will be completed.
Of course, gravel and machinery is costly, and if you can donate any money at all to the cause, just see Felton d'Entremont ( a Alice). It would be greatly appreciated.
