Got Gas ? Radon Gas, that is ...

Radon Test KitRadon is a colourless, odourless gas that can seep undetected into your home and cause lung cancer.

In 2012, Health Canada reported that 6.9 per cent of Canadians are living in homes with radon levels above the current guideline.

Here's a map of current levels across Canada. Click here to see it.  and zoom in for a closer look.

Protect your family by testing your home for radon.
The best time to test is September to April, when we have our windows closed.  So order your now

The oldest whirligigs are the string with button.
As old as 500 BC they claim.
Been a long time since I thought of this easy piece of entertainment.

Some scents are very distinct
One such scent is Lypsyl.
The original scent.
I have one on my nightstand and every night I close my eyes, and savor the smell it as I put it on.

Ellen Show

On today's Ellen show two couples from our community will be there. They had VIP tickets and I believe they will be in the 3rd row,, next to two ladies who get up with Ellen.
How awesome is that !

Female masturbation

Many women won't admit it, but in a survey about masturbation, 39 percent of woman aged 18 to 60 admitted to masturbating in the last year ( 61% of men admitted , same age group)
Unlike the old days, people are now taught that masturbation is good for you.

Some women enjoy sex even more when they age, since they aren't afraid to get pregnant, they have an empty nest and they may feel a little more adventurous.
But not all women enjoy sex. Some may have emotional and physical changes that make it difficult to get in the mood.

I read that researchers claim that pre-menopausal, and post-menopausal women are both able to get sexually excited. No difference. The ladies in the quilt room will have something to say , I am sure.  There may be a difference in vaginal lubrication, but as for excitement, and swelling of our genitals due to being turned on ....  we all can .

Masturbating stimulates the brain, which stimulates our genitals.
It activates neural pathways to our clitoris and vagina, and the blood flow increase and the lubrication is exactly what we need. Our vaginas are getting drier, and shorter, and this will indeed help.

I once read that when we women get older, we need more visual stimulation to get excited. That's something men have always been good at.
We aren't as great as we were when we were young; we can't close our eyes and fantasize as good as before.
So if need be, watch a good movie, or look through a magazine.  See if that helps.

Enjoy your day !

The Lord's Prayer .... Sister Mead

Janet Mead (born 1938, Adelaide, South Australia]) is a Roman Catholic nun and is best known for recording a rock version of "The Lord's Prayer". The surprise hit reached Number 3 on the Australian Singles Chart (Kent Music Report) in 1974 and Number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the same year. The single earned her a Grammy Award nomination and Golden Gospel Award in 2004. Mead became the second woman to have a top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart while serving as a nun. Sister Luc-Gabrielle (Jeanine Deckers), also known as Sœur Sourire and The Singing Nun, had a Number 1 pop hit in 1963 with "Dominique".

Starlight Festival

I went to the starlight festival in West Pubnico the other night.
It was my first time, and I brought a biker date with me.
We began by watching a slideshow of photos taken by Aldric d'Entremont.
Then we moved on into another room where Real d'Entremont spoke to us of swordfishing in the foggy year of 1967, when he was 21. (Actually he even had a photo of him swordfishing on his birthday.) The foggy 1967 is near to my heart, as that's the year my grampie Rodgerson went missing in the fog. Never to be seen again.  Nothing ever was found.
Into a third room, we chatted with Kent Surette about the lobster fishery, and the many changes over the years. As I listened I recalled pictures of grampy, and his boat and traps.  Unlike most people there, other than my grampy, our family is not one of fishermen. We slaughtered beef; we didn't fish.

Upstairs we visited Carl d'Entremont, and he told us about being 12 when he first went fishing. He spoke of Edwin " Fezzy", and I enjoyed remembering him.
It was a "Seafarer's " theme, and I much liked the structure of the conversation. Certainly nothing was rehearsed, and we interacted, asked questions, and had a few laughs.
Now it was dark, and we picked up our glowsticks and joined Ted d'Eon out of doors.
The night could not have been better.
I saw Saturn in the telescope, and other planets and constellations with the naked eye.
I learned new things, and came home to upload the SkyView app for iphones and iPads.
It's free and awesome !
Point it to the sky at night, and it will tell you what you are seeing.

Thanks Bernice !

A cubit

What's a cubit, you may ask?

It's a measurement.
Today a cubit is 18 inches to be exact.
Early Egyptians used the distance from the elbow to the fingertips to measure a cubit.

I measured mine, and from elbow to fingertips: 17 inches.

Lots of fun for kids !

My Nova Scotia neighborhood

I've been golfing for 4 years now.
My friend said " you should come golfing?"
So I did, and I got hooked !

Yesterday was my birthday and I got a new driver .
I practiced at home and don't you suppose I broke a car window.
I was sure glad it wasn't mine !
It was my mother's.
So I went to tell her ( she's rather deaf)
So in a faint voice I said " Mom I broke your car window"
and then in a voice that she could hear I added
" I'll drive you to church today !"

South Dakota Morning

Photo credit: Brad d'Entremont, without permission.

Some friends recently visited South Dakota, a place on my bucket list.
I so enjoyed ( and still do) the pictures they are sharing.
I thought I'd post this Bee Gees tune about South Dakota.
Comes from their album " Life in a Tin Can."

Listen to it here

The sun shines down on a South Dakota morning
And I can see their faces in my eyes
I wish they were behind me
My enemy can find me
If only to remind me that I'm really not alone
All the South Dakota mornings I have known

The eagle flies on a South Dakota morning
And I don't see my eagle anymore
Now stranger, I must kill you
You must survive, but will you
I may just beat you down, but will it even up the score
I think I saw the eagle just once more

The rain comes down on a South Dakota morning
And I can't see the sadness in my town

So let it be my pillow for underneath your willow
Wanna go back to you though your nothing but a town
On the South Dakota grass I lay me down

Spaghetti Squash in the slow cooker

I didn't ever think of cooking spaghetti squash in the slow cooker.
Wash your spaghetti squash well.
Place in the slow cooker with 2 cups of water.
Pierce it 4 to 5 times with a sharp knife.
Cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
Careful lifting it as it will be flimsy.

Spaghetti squash has something like 40 calories a cup.
Use it as you would spaghetti .

The average erect penis measures between 5 and 6 inches .
Flaccid " soft" penises average around 3 and a half inches.
Only 12% measure more than 6.2 inches.

So what is considered a large penis ? a 7 to 9 inch penis when erect.
Huge is anything over 9 inches when erect.

Hippie Butter Hemp Seeds

Here's an interesting freebie.
A Canadian product, shipped from Texas.
Hemp seeds.

Organic toasted and also organic hulled hemp.
Will they get you high?  No
Will you fail a drug test if you add them to your shake or cereal? No
Will they germinate? no
Are they legal? yes
They are supposedly nutty tasting, like sunflower seeds .
They are good to hydrate your skin, and protects you from having dry skin issues.

I think I'll make a chocolate hemp bark recipe for Christmas :)

Order your sample here.
