I read a story of a lady who decided to go on a buying ban.
For 12 months she did not buy clothes, shoes, accessories, nail polish, books/magazines, notebooks, candles, household items, home decor, electronics or take out coffee.
Other people followed her along. The biggest reason was to try to be a conscious consumer.
2nd top reason was to save money. Number 3 was to enjoy and appreciate what you have and number 4 reason was to break a bad spending habit.
The hardest things to give up were movie tickets, eating out and weekend plans/spending.
Some lasted a week, some made it for 12 months.
