Son #2: Ah mame, I love it when you fall for my stories... it soooo funny !! Ha! Ha ! Ha!

Being Valentine's Day tomorrow, I thought I'd go easy on you.

Is sex better when there's LOVE involved?

Well, let's see.

If you aren't in love, and it's casual sex, there really are no emotional complications of a relationship. All you need to focus on is pleasure !

And if it's a stranger, and there's no chance of meeting again, inhibitions can be tossed out the window. You can even act out a secret fantasy with no fear of rejection. Casual sex, and sex with a stranger is probably exciting, brings a sense of being naughty, of tasting the forbidden fruit.

Falling in love, according to Italian scientists, creates a biochemical state similar to OCD ( Obessive Compulsive Disorder). Remember? You just can't get enough of the other, and sex can be very exciting. The sex is very mutual, physically and emotionally. How long does this state last? It takes six to 18 months for the brain to return to normal. After that, we do one of two things: we fall out of love, or the relationship matures.

The best thing about a mature relationship, is you can really get skills mastered as a his/her lover.

So "What's love got to do with sexual pleasure?"

Not much.

Sex can be exciting whether or not you're in love.

But love has everything to do with emotional well being.

Week #38 My Rabbit Pie

Making a Rabbit Pie is an effort, but well worth it !

It's the rabbits that are time consuming. I like to cook them the day before making the pie.

I cook them in the oven, and have used the slow cooker before.

Covering them with as much liquid as possible, is key. And if you are cooking them in a pan, make sure you have it well covered with foil. As it cools, you should either make sure all the bunnies are submerged, or keep the foil on. Cooling rabbits out of liquid will dry it, and make it chewy.

I bake my rabbits for 3 or 4 hours at 325F, or 8 hours on low in the slow cooker.

I usually add chopped onions, salt and pepper, a tetra pak of chicken broth, and water.

After it cools, and I have deboned them, I save the liquid. The next day, the "gunk" from the liquid has settled on the bottom, and I toss the gunk out.

Heat up the broth. Thicken it with flour or cornstarch. I prefer cornstarch.

Add small sliced or diced potatoes ( and other veggies if you desire) and keep the broth cooking.

Our meat pies always consists of just meat and potatoes.

Cut up the rabbit meat and add to the hot broth.

Taste it and add salt and pepper if desired.

There's no rush to get this into the crust. Cook the potatoes quite a bit.

Make your crust, and roll it out to fit the bottom of your dish. ( You can make a pie with only a top crust as well)

As for the crust, I start out as a pie crust, but with about a handful more of flour, and the ever important baking soda needed for a meat pie crust. I don't usually measure this, but I would bet on 1 tsp per crust.

With a slotted spoon, fill the dish and add some broth. Make another crust and place it on top. Crimp the edges together. Make sure to cut some vents for steam.

Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or so. If things are looking too golden too fast, turn down your oven, toss a sheet of foil on top to prevent the crust from getting too brown and keep baking. Cooking time depends on how cooked your potatoes were before constructing the pie.

COMMENTS: We all love rabbit pie. I always save the broth to use as a gravy during the meal. If you are making both a top and bottom crust, you can add lots of gravy before baking, as much will get absorbed. I enjoy serving rabbit pie to guests, especially guests like the sailor, who appreciates it and tells me it resembles his grandmother's rabbit pie from England.

Did you know more mangoes are eaten worldwide than any other fruit? Well, I certainly haven't contributed to those statistcis very much.
I bought a fresh mango.
To cut it, cut both ends, peel it and cut lenghtwise into slices.
It's supposedly a comfort food, helps with digestion, and once you start eating it, and feeling the comfort, you may actually crave it, and all it's good stuff !
It has anti-oxidants, lots of potassium and fiber (40% of the recommennded daily fibre).
Like a peach, when ripe, it should be a little tender when you squeeze it . It ripens at room temperature, but once sliced, keep it in the fridge for a couple days. It's OK ,but not a favorite fruit of mine.

I read a cute article on Forbes.com awhile ago.

What I remember the most was that for guys, Valentine's day is like an audit with the IRS.

I thought that was so funny.

What do we girls want? This year, many are saying no big splurges.

Waking up to a breakfast in bed, or a coffee and a kiss will do for some.

Do women expect sex that day? A survey done by ABC says only 43% expect says.

The men? 50% expect sex that day.

Only 29% of men admit to have forgotten about Valentines Day.

One woman mentioned a homemade card would be ideal, with his own sentiments inside.

Tricks up our sleeves .... baby oil does a great job on chrome and faucets. ( While I don't waste baby oil on chrome, I am a regular olive oil user on my stainless steel sinks) and my mom said... wow, your sinks are always so shiny :)

Coffee Grinder: Mill a handful of grains in your grinder and the particles will absorb stale odors and clean out residual grounds and oil. Toss the rice out and wipe clean.

Glass top stoves: while I don't have one, I sure have come across many people looking for an answer. Some said a mixture of baking soda and water overnight will do, some say magic eraser, one said a razor and elbow grease, and some swear by a glass stove top cleaner.

They smell great and it was absolutely delightful.

Son #1 waked into the kitchen this morning. I wished him a happy 16th birthday and I pointed to a card addressed to him on the island.

"You have got to go look in the driveway!"

The birthday boy looked at me and raised an eyebrow.

Years ago, when all us kids were still living at home, my parents were packing up a for an over nighter.
Mom told Dad not to forget his toothbrush. When he went for it , he discovered it was gone. Mom had packed it in her stuff .
There was a little discussion and the outcome revealed that they had been using the same toothbrush !
It was super funny to us kids, but our parents didn't seem too impressed.
The story still makes me smile.

Lipoma surgery update ... 3.5 months

Of all the pictures I have posted, I think this is the one I hated to share the most.
It has been three and a half months since the lipoma has been removed.
Tomorrow is my last day on antibiotics. The site is swollen, from scar to knee . From scar to groin it seems good, and the skin is nice and soft. The bottom of the scar (which is the top part shown, as I had my leg up on my desk when I took the picture) is still hard. It still pains some, and the stinging has been very bad this month. I guess it's nerves repairing. The thigh measures usually about two inches larger than the other.
The scar sure has changed appearances numerous times. I partially blame the cellulitis for it's poor appearance, as it looked better before that. It looks like I have been stabbed. I am unsure if it will continue to cave in. I have been bare leg for 3 weeks, wear no dressing, and haven't seen a drop in 10 days. The first days without a dressing felt very strange. Comparable to walking around with no underwear on.

I read a study of women watching men in the grocery stores.

What the men had in their carts, had an impact on whether or not the women felt attracted to him.

New potatoes were on the top of the list, followed by red wine and pasta sauce placing third.

It's made from dollar store frame and corkboard glued into the frames.

I don't want one, but I do find it cute !

Casserole #37 Mexican Skillet

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup chopped onions

14 1/2 ounce can stewed tomatoes

2 oxo cubes, or some sort of beef seasoning

2.5 tsp chili powder

1.5 cups cooked rice

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fry the hamburg and onion in a skillet, and drain any fat. Add tomatoes, including the liquid, beef seasoning, and chili powder. Bring to a boil. Stir in cooked rice.

Reduce heat, cover and simmer 5 minutes.

Top with lettuce and cheese before serving.

Comments: This was good. I only put lettuce on my part, and enjoyed it ! Son #1 said it was very good. I would make it again. Wished it would have been a bit spicier. Very good way to use cooked leftover rice.

Here's a few hints I read to keeping motivated to keep your kitchen clean.

1) Set up a bit of ambiance. Like a nice lamp somewhere, or some under the counter lighting. When it looks cozy, we tend to be motivated to keep things tidy and nice.

2) A nice centerpiece, tablecloth, or fresh flowers will motivate you to keep to the table clean and welcoming.

3) Push yourself to what you hate to first. It'll make the rest much easier.

and lastly... my own ideas...

4) Play some music while you clean

5) Set a goal. (Got to get this done before the news comes on, and I can have my tea)

6) Watch hoarders

7) and Lastly. Nothing motivates like inviting company over.

I always say I love to cook, but I hate to bake.

I visited my sis today, and she had beautiful banana chip muffins coming out of the oven. I didn't taste one, but asked for the recipe since I had three overripe bananas at home.

I made them and they were beautiful !

I took them out of the oven and set them on the stove to cool a few minutes. I was heating beans and weiners for supper. As I sat down to blog, I could smell something burning.

Those beautiful muffins were smoking !

I had the wrong burner on !

The weiners were stone cold, and the muffins were sending smoke signals.

I can't win.

The Tangelo is on the chopping block.

Mine is a Minneola and there is also an Orlando version. "The Minneola tangelo is a hybrid of a« Bowen » grapefruit and a « Dancy » tangerine. The Orlando tangelo is a cross between a « Duncan » grapefruit and a «Dancy » tangerine." Actually I kind of thought it may be a cross of tangerine and orange, but that's a mandarin orange.

It's an excellent source of vitamin A and is a high source of folic acid, potassium and vitamin C.

Choose a heavy tangelo, and eat it at room temperature for best flavor. It peels like an orange.

I ate mine cold, and it was pretty tart. Very juicy indeed, squirted the person to my right, and it had seeds. I hate seeds. I guess there is a seedless version.

If you store them in a plastic bag, leave the bag open. They deteriorate fast if enclosed.

An average tangelo has 70 calories, 1 gram fat, and 2 grams of fibre.

Week # 36 Chicken Alfredo casserole

This was a quick decision. I had 2 chicken breasts , and decided to make an Alfredo sauce. Looked at casseroles, and ended up with this...

Preheat your oven to 350F

Cut into pieces and fry 2 boneless chicken breasts

Start cooking some pasta at the same time. I use fusili.

Make your Alfredo sauce: 1/2 cup butter

1 package cream cheese

melt these two in a pot and use a whisk to make creamy

Add two cups milk, keep whisking.

Add garlic powder (the recipe called for 2 teaspoons. I have kids, so I choose to put only one half teaspoon)

Add 1/2 cup grated parmesan.

Add pepper if you'd like.

It thickens fast, so remove from heat when it's done.

Add the drained pasta to the chicken (don't worry if it's not fully cooked, it's going in the oven)

Pour the sauce over it all, toss about, and put into a greased dish.

Bake for 20 minutes.

Comments: it was pretty good. It was very creamy before it went in the oven, but not so when it came out. I should have just cooked everything fully and assembled our plates. The sauce was super, filling and easy to make. Son #1 said it was very good. Said there was too much chicken. He likes dark meat. He also said one plate was enough.

Loverboy had a birthday last week while he was fishing. So when he came home, I got a birthday cake and I remembered buying a birthday card for "husband", and storing it in my card box. When I went to sign it, I realized it was already signed by me.

Hmmm?

So I put it in an envelope with a couple lotto tickets, and gave it to him.

Last night, as I was cleaning up, I picked up the card.

Decisions, decisions....

So, I returned it to the card box.

I'm ready for next year !

Clothes are the issue.

Here's a few hints to weed out the clothes you don't wear.

For each new item you bring in the closet, you remove one for donation. This also prevents bringing home too many finds from Frenchy, or impulse buying...as you know if you hang it up, you must toss one out. I abide by this rule.

The other trick is to hang all your hangers the opposite way. As you wear, wash, and, rehang clothes, hang the hanger them the normal way on the closet rod. In a couple months the hangers will show which items you clearly aren't wearing.

One article I read said: the working woman should have

7-9 work/dressy outfits

5-7 casual outfits

2-3 outfits for relaxing at home

3-4 pair work shoes (depends on your work)

3 pairs casual shoes

Wow. Imagine the room I'd have in the closet.

Here's three questions I have been asked:

What should I do to heal a chafed penis?

Are some women really "squirters" ?

What can I do about a crack in my vibrator ?

As for a chafed penis, friction is usually the culprit, but I read that nowadays, lots of men use a body wash/shampoo combo, that can dry your skin and make it your penis chafe even more easily. If I had a chafed penis, I would apply zincofax ( cream a fesse) and give the poor penis a rest for a couple days. However, I have no penis so I'll leave it up to the experts. Here's what they suggest: use Blistex Lip Balm, use condoms, vaseline, antibiotic ointment, and give it a rest. Masturbate with a lubricant after healing is complete.

Do some women really squirt? (Squirt fluid when they orgasm.) How the heck should I know? I read that 13% have at one time, and 6% do regularly. Most of us, just experience immense contractions and additional slippery fluid. There's a female version of the prostrate, behind the clitoris, known as the sponge, that supposedly will release fluid, that isn't urine, through the urethra. I hardly believe it. Some female ejaculate has been examined and shown to be nothing more than urine. I have to research this more. Maybe I'll ask Dr Ruth. I'll get back to you.

And lastly , if your vibrator has a crack in it ..... yes, that's not good for the crack. It should be tossed out. I assume it's garbage, but you can call waste check to be sure. Week #35 French Toast casserole

Trying to catch up on my casseroles, so I made a breakfast casserole this morning.

Sounded so easy. Preheat your oven to 350F.

In a greased 8 X8 dish add:

5 cups bread cubes

mix 4 eggs

1.5 cups milk

2 tbsp sugar

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla

and pour it over the bread.

Dot it with butter

Sprinkle the top with a mixture of 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon.

Bake it for 45-50 minutes.

Comments: It was enjoyed by all. I put bacon in the oven, on convection bake, at the same, and they were both done at the same time.Almost 45 minutes. It was easy. There was none left and Loverboy said it would be great and easy for a crowd. Of course, I already knew that. Mine had no cinnamon sugar topping.

Dragonfruit

I decided to introduce a Saturday segment I'll call "On the chopping block".

On today's chopping block is dragon fruit, or Pitaya Fruit or Pitahaya Fruit

It's a cactus fruit and can be found growing in Hawaii. It comes in a few colours, but the red one is the most common. What I did learn, was the cactus blooms only at night, so it gets pollinated by bats,and not bees. Cool eh? While dragonfruit is not a type 2 diabetes cure, it may offer diabetics a substantial health benefit towards lower blood glucose levels. Vitamin C and dietary fiber are both positive nutritional benefits of dragon fruit among others. To eat, cut lenghtwise. Pass a knife between the edible fruit and it's flesh. The flesh is not edible. Spoon it out, or pop it out. Trim and pink or fibre from the fruit.

Comment: it taste like a kiwi, with watermelon texture. I threw some into jello.

Week #34 Tuna Casserole

1 small onion, chopped

2 Tbsp. butter or margarine

1 cup Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese (divided)

2 cups egg noodles, cooked and drained

1 can (10-3/4 oz.) condensed cream of celery soup

1 can (5 oz.) tuna, drained, flaked

1/3 cup milk

1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese

HEAT oven to 350°F.

COOK and stir onions in butter in large saucepan

Add 1/2 cup of Cheese and the remaining ingredients; mix well.

SPOON into a casserole dish.

BAKE 30 min.

After 30 minutes, top with remaining cheese and bake 5 min. or until melted.

Comments: Sharp cheddar was replaced with old shredded cheddar and I threw in a half cup of frozen peas. I really liked it. It calls for 2 cups pasta, so I boiled 1.5 cups of large shells and once cooked, it measured a just tad bit more than 2 cups. Son #1 didn't seem impressed at first. Great, another tuna casserole. Aren't they all the same? Tuna, noodles, cheese? BUT he said it was actually really good. He complained of too many visible onions and too many peas. I would definitely make it again !

The Bologna Club

For the last 30 years or so, we have been meeting as the Bologna Club
only once a year, always a few days after Christmas and just before the New Year.
This year was exciting. We met on an island near shore, one that was accessible only
at low tide, where our club president Wendell d’Eon has a small chalet. Sadly, this year our senior member and co-founder could not be there because of health
issues, and after a tabulation of birth dates, it fell on my shoulders to
perform some of the tea brewing rituals at the event as I was the senior member
– by only a few months...I may add.
The Bologna Club was formed with 12 members, the same number as the Apostles of
biblical days. We have not caught up with the metric system yet. This is the one
thing that the Bologna Club stands firm about, there will only be 12 members,
not one more, no matter what. We all agreed on this rule and at one time two
prominent community leaders – pillars of society, you might say – wanted to join
the exclusive club, raising the membership, but were turned down. (They may
forgive us someday, if they live long enough.)
Of the members of the club one is an out-of-province member from New Brunswick, and one
member originally from West Pubnico, now makes his home in Spain. This makes the
world’s first Bologna club an international organization.
The club has no dues, no minutes, no bylaws, in-laws or outlaws. Except for one day,
our president Wendell d'Eon has very little to do, and he does it very well. The
job is his for life.
One year a well-known food-processing firm from the Annapolis Valley, one that
supplied our co-op store, heard about the club and donated one of their choice
bologna for the mid-winter gathering. The president very graciously sent them a
thank you note to show our appreciation.
Most of the club’s members are now well seasoned and well passed the mid-century-plus
mark; some are now senior citizen and collectors of Old Age Pension. On “Bologna
Club day” a good size fire is made with very dry wood, and when the ambers of
the campfire are aglow, bologna is cooked and bread toasted (and in the New
Year) on the hot coals. There is always a small bottle of black “vitalizer” to
add a bit of good cheer, taken in moderation and in good “spirit” of
course.
The members are from all walks of life, and as all can remember the better
parts of 50 or 60 years or more, they yarn, reminisce and argue about a coastal
fishing village of their youth that no longer exist. All talks are peppered with
humor, especially when the “vitalizer” kicks in. Club members also talk about an
earlier time when the Acadians and others (there was no English or French way of
surviving) lived off the land and the world was at peace. For two hours a year
members are young once again, it takes us back as we reverse the clock and
relive those carefree and quiet days of long, long ago.
So far no women have shown any interest in the club, perhaps the cooking and eating
habits are not up to par. Many times we have invited guests who seem to feel at
home and enjoy our company and black tea; it is seldom that all members can
attend the yearly event. The members represent many occupations. We have school
teachers, fishermen, carpenters, business consultant, school guidance counselor,
folk singer, boat shop worker, golf course attendant, and one writer and
storyteller.
The Bologna Club is well promoted with its own caps, club logo – which is a campfire
with tea brewing in an old tin can – and we have membership certificates. The
club is mostly inactive for every day of the year except one. And this is what
the club stands for and the reason why it exist: Good friends, good cheer, good
conversation and, not to forget, good bologna.

Homemade Suet cakes

Yes, it's for the birds !

Today at the Home we made suet cakes for the birds.

Some followed a recipe, and others modified the recipes.

It was easy, smelled great, and was fun !

We used pure lard, not suet.

The lard we melted in the microwave seemed to work better, as it wasn't as hot and runny, like the one we melted on the stove.

Basically, it's 1 cup melted lard and 1 cup crunchy peanut butter.

Add a half cup of flour

Add 3 cups of nuts (cracked corn, quick oats, black sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, mixed bird seed, and/or sunflower seeds )

If it's still too runny, add more flour or oats.

Pour into loaf pan (to cut in half later) or small container, or muffin tins.

Whatever shape you desire to have.

Freeze it overnight, and use it to feed our feathered friends.

They lay around here and there, and we save them, just in case.

Good Monday morning.

Orgasm, and it's effect on sleeping, and urinating, is the topic this morning.

Why does an orgasm make falling asleep so easy? Women joke that men soon fall asleep after sex. Now, I don't know about your bed, but I fall asleep rather nicely after a good orgasm. As for Loverboy; he seems to recover pretty good, especially if a hockey game is on. Orgasms release nice stuff like serotonin, which helps us sleep. It makes us flex and stretch and therefore we are very relaxed once the orgasm has been achieved. If we are in bed, it's even better. If you are in a parked car, or in an elevator, well, there is no time for sleep. I would think that all you menopausal ladies should masturbate when you cannot sleep.

So what is it with feeling like urinating soon after an orgasm? The contractions and spasms during the Big O, put a bit of pressure on the bladder. So you try to pee soon after. The more intense your orgasm was, the harder it is to pee. That's just the effects of blood engorging your privates and things remaining tense. It soon lets go. I read it was nature's way of preventing urine from contaminating the sperm. Urinating after you pee will also help prevent bladder infections, and other bad bugs.

In a Home and Garden magazine, they mentioned 4 things people are less likely to clean regularly.

I am guilty of one of them.

1) The telephone. Yes, it's the one thing I clean the least. And I have since wiped them all down with a bacterial cleanser. Merci !

2) The dishwasher. I do clean this, as the outside of the door, when it is down, gets grimy and splattered.

3) The shower curtain. It gets wet regularly and left to dry and collect germs. Wash it in the washer with the detergent and bleach. Toss in a towel that can handle bleach, and it will do the work for you.

4) Garbage Cans. I clean them often. I place them in the tub with some cleaner and let them soak.
